The Monsters are made in China with movements from Singapore, which Im not keen on (SKX007/9s are - J: made in Japan; K: made in Singapore).
If I was looking for a Monster then itd have to be a Night Monster, probably a purple Night Monster. The PVD coating disguises the ugly and overly-large bezel, which looks rubbish in bare stainless, in my opinion.
Thats a purple NM, but a normal Night Monster is similar, but with a black face.

Yeah, but how much is a purple Night Monster (sounds like something my missus would be keen on!)?
I actually like the fact that the bezel is large, depends on how big your wrists are I suppose.

The Monsters dont look particularly large on my wrists (the opposite is true, in fact - they look small), its the poor balance between shiny bezel and face that Im not keen on.
The purple NM was a limited edition and they (along with the other limiteds) are a little minty compared to a normal Monster.
It probably doesnt matter where theyre made; although Id prefer all-Japanese, which I believe that the PVD versions are. If you like the look but want to spend a little less, then you can buy a Seiko 5 100m PVD coated watch (a night monster-a-like) for about £125.

As to cheap..I consider £50 or under cheap>I have a pulsar kinetic as my 'don't care if its nicked' watch.....like that Breil one though

Well its probably a bit more than I was planning on paying for my cheapie watch but I am seriously looking at Nixon, seem to be nice looking well put together watches.
Hopefully the Nixon 51-30 not sure if I will get the standard or the Chrono depends whos got stock of what...

Me too! The whole world seems to be 'out of stock' though so everyone seems to have the same idea! (except on line companies and I'm a bit wary hence post on other thread)

Right I have a decent watch that has lasted me well but the problem is that its a bit too decent, I always wear short sleeve shirts so its always on "display" so to speak. This caused me some problems a few years ago when two groups of people tried to mug me on the same day when I was in Jakarta.
So I need a spare watch that is bulky, strong and preferably metal, no budget but I don't want to end up spending too much as it will defeat the object of buying it . I have seen something like this:

I didn't realise I needed a new watch until I got brainwashed by the watch threads and suddenly had to spend a few grand on a Breitling... which incidently I scratched against a brick wall on a night out last week!

Get one that looks cheap (and so probably will be, Casio) then you wont get bothered. If you have a cheap watch that looks good youre going to attract some one that likes the look of it.
