2nd user engine can be had for your car from £800.
Spend an afternoon and its easy to pull the old one and fit the new one.
very easy considering.

Job jobbed.

Except that unless you know EXACTLY what you are getting, it's an awful lot of money and a waste of time to have to start again in 6 months.

Enginetuner - prefers to build.

Lateral Performance - supply parts.

Scoobyclinic - do both.

Or the US of A ?

We offer engines in "kit" form, so that the customer has the choice of who builds it for them.

We also offer built engines, full, & short, and often have built 2.1lt short engines in stock, ready to go.

The 2.1lt stroker kit market is very competitive, so the current kit prices are being kept low. Because of this, some companies really don't want to just sell the kit, but want to make the money up by doing the whole job.

People can choose who, & what suits them best.

Don't go down the 2.5 route, unless you have a spare 10k, or in my case 12k and you still wont be happy. Mark at lateral 2.1 kit is a very good option if you don't want to go mental.

Duncan,

I'm sure we could come up with something, if you wanted two kits

Can be done for well under £10k if you are patient and wait for good deals to come up.

My build included extra's as well like powder coated manifold, repaint inlet manifold ect.

Dont forget you can sell your old parts to recoup a little too.

I know a guy with v3 sti gearbox + ej257 thats been running for 5+ years. It now makes at least 500hp.

Personally the 2.1 is a good option for the type r with its short gearing

Why not? Aren't you happy with yours? My build inc gearbox cost me less than that.

How much do you charge for a full 2.1 engine build ?

a 2.1 sounds the most cost effective option

Whats the increase in power ?

Mine include Forged internals, head gasket, 6 speed gearbox, brembo's allround, suspension, arb's allround, jdm xenons, new turbo, ap organic clutch, billet flywheel, apexi AVCR etc, etc, etc. And no i am still not happy. I think i will change the turbo for a MD123, and increase the injectors.

2.1 is the best road for you to go down Stef. Good luck.

You don't say why you're not happy? Are the power figures below expectation?
Grey area's with the 2.5 conversion are the 2ltr heads which need the bowl and ports blending to suit the larger cylinder and help air/gas flow.

Mine already had the Brembos, suspension package, xenon driving lights, and a LINK ecu, remapped by Bob Rawle.

What turbo are you using at present, and what are you specifically unhappy about?

Mine now pulls like a train from 2000 revs, and is driveable around town at 25mph in 5th.
When given some beans, the acceleration is neck cracking. What's to be unhappy about?
