...well I've did an hour last night and an hour tonight, and it still is throwing out maximum light. I'll probably charge it before going out again. The LED on the back is still green though, it goes red at some point I seem to remember.

Over a year. But it's not had much use.

I had good intentions to use it last winter, but only used it a handful of times.

I've been using an Exposure Joystick helmet mount for the last couple of years and have been well impressed with it. Quality bit of kit too.

I was just wondering how the battery pack took to loads of charges and how much it declines over time.

Thumbs up

Received fitted and used in anger for the first time last night.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

According to the GPS I'm not really any slower than in daylight on trails I know. Not sure I would be as brave on unknown tracks though. Had a couple of heart stopping moments on the big downhill - apart from that it was great. About the same as riding a small motorcycle at night.

Ooo, you big poof, get out this winter, collect the bloke points for turning up on the nastiest day of the year on your bike, let your colleagues notice without prompting the crust of ice thats formed on you and your bike

I've stepped it up this year and am taking it a bit more seriously by joining a club......and I don't want to put all this weight back on, and lose the fitness.

....I also quite like buying cycling clothes....I just hope I don't wimp out when it gets a bit colder!

Update.

But firstly, thats quite a dashboard you have there

Right, I bought two sets of Magicshine lights one for bar and the other for head mount, the lights are fantastic quality very very pleased with them.
Tried them out tonight for the first time riding some fast woodland single track and OMG they were brill Ok on the fast stuff perhaps I'm not as quick over the ground but it sure is huge fun and I'd urge anyone to try it. Night riding off road has opened up a whole new world of MTB adventure I feel, dark nights!!! bring it on!!!!

If anyone is thinking of getting off road lights the magicshine units are huge quality, great value and very bright.
Thanks everyone who pointed me towards them

I use the DX (Bastid ) light and also a set of Ay-Ups Great wee lights. Very good burn times and you barely know they're there.
I used them all at the Strathpuffer last year and the 'Puffer Lite this year. A great combination.
Have to admit though, I'm very tempted with a Troutelight!
