Any airport that takes me away on holiday is marvellous, be it East Midlands, Gatwick, who cares!

Any airport that I have to go to at the end of my holiday is grim, very much like my mood-holiday over and the inevitable return to work.

I am going back a few years mate. I used to use Singapore airport all the time as it was during the days when you couldnt fly direct and I needed to get to Brunei so Singapore was the overnight stop. Always loved that Airport though the Ladyhill hotel was a dump especially when you were an UM

Hong Kong-many a memorable landing and taking off on the way to the HK Rugby Sevens ...drunk was the best way to handle that runway

You were lucky mate. I used to fly back to college from Bangkok with a stop over at Schipol where the cases would come off and then get ticketed and transfered ready for London.

Cue arriving at London at customs where the office would look at my two labels

bangkok = counterfeit goods and drugs
holland = more drugs, **** and diamond smuggling

The twang of the rubber glove brings back terrible memories

I was in Amsterdam a few months ago, watch out for mcdonalds they offer you and ketchup or mayo and then add a euro to your bill for them

I was stuck there for 9 hours waiting for my crappy city air plane to take me in to London, luckily I got there early in the morning got a 24 hour voucher for the wifi, and got one of the nice reclined comfy chairs upstairs near the massage place, over the rest of the day I watched 100s of people circling the chairs like vulchers round a dead animal, there's was no chance I was moving an inch out of mine!

Has any way seen the armed cops on sedgeways? Funniest thing I have ever seen!

Yes Liverpool is a dump of an airport

Newcastle is ok
Manchester needs a makeover
Carlisle airport is a small shed !
Pestwicks shop consists of a barrow style kiosk with dodgy Scottish soverneers
Dublin was ok

Same for Adelaide in Australia and Melbourne is good.

Perth is ok except for the longest wait for bags ever.

I've good memories of Bahrain as well, departures that is, NOT arrivals, since being in departure mean flying home from work for a month off! Nothing like getting on that plane.

Why oh why did they name an airport after George Best.

John Lennon is bad enough. He was just a musician FFS.

I don't get it. I mean at least John Lennon is somehow a 'young forever' kind of icon even if he was ultimately just a figment of shallow pop culture and a pseudo-mystic. Liverpool are kind of desperate to be 'special' and they hang onto the Beetles thing like it is all they have though.

Best drank himself to death in middle age and I can't say that to anyone under 40 that Best is anything else put a famous pisshead. He did nothing of any consequence after football other than party, get pissed and be buddies with Parkinson etc. Even his football career was a tale of wasted potential in many ways.

During his years though, the only other subjects putting Belfast in the spotlight were riots and terrorists! I dont necessarily agree with it either but it beats "Balclava City Airport".

My faves are probably related to the success of the trips . . .
Osaka, Singapore and Frankfurt airports all hold fond memories for me!

Fave UK airport is Robin Hood as its only 10 mins away!

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 12:15 AM.
