So What's The Catch?

I reckon they are like marmite... you either lover em or hate em.
I'm not at all keen. But I can see how they appeal to some.
What I never understand is the obsession to get the latest (and most expensive) - is it just to say your car is newer and pose?
They simply don't seem better in any way that is important for this niche of car.
We are obsessed with renewing our cars in the UK and the whole market feeds of this obsession. The foreign car companies still call the uk "Treasure Island", because we swallow every piece of marketing hype they dream up and we simple buy buy buy - even if we can't afford it we've simply got to have it.
When you can buy a better built (forged stroker or similar) 450bhp car like a blob eye for £10K
Why even bother buying an RS or STi hatch?
If its for performance there is no competition.
Reliability - well there's not much in that if you look after your cars.
Looks? LOL - My advice, stop being a tart and appreciate a car for what it is. A piece of engineering to get you around whilst having as much fun as is safely possible.
If someone else can explain why I'd want one of these then I'd be grateful... because I don't get it. I do have an open mind so someone help me understand, please.
