More exciting to drive than an Impreza? Total rubbish imo, I have driven one and whilst it's a fantastic car 'fun' is not a word I would use to describe it in any way. Lifeless steering and a massive kerb weight (1865kg!!!!!! That's 630kg more than my impreza.) do not make for a fun car. In every other way it's definitely superior to an Impreza but you are kidding yourself in claiming that it's more fun to drive. I have never driven a fast audi that has been anything but dull, fantastically well built cars with excellent interiors, general build quality, loads of grip with quattro but always dull to drive - the sensation of speed just isn't there, you need to look at the speedo to realise how fast you are going. All imo of course, no offence intended!

You couldnt do it in 99% of the imprezas on this forum either as I have already stated they are completely different cars. The RS6 (as you lot have kept piping up) and the M3 are Tourers more than anything and wont batter an eyelid at doing 100+ mph for prolonged periods, something you cannot do in an Impreza without it blowing up.I prefer to travel in comfort and luxury and still have the ability to blow imprezas away at the dab of the throttle. As i have also said, the only thing that the impreza betters Rs6,M3,M5 etc is in the country lanes where size and weight play a huge factor.Other than that they are no comparison to these supercars
You arent exactly helping the OP with all your bleating, times have changed and moved on,Imprezas are no longer the kings of the road. You lot sound as bitter as the cossie boys when the Impreza took over the title 15 years ago

now grow up and stop muppetising the OPs thread with your immature outbursts

However suggesting that Imprezas blow up sustaining over 100mph+. I would counter that with the known problem that M3s like to blow themselves up for no reason whatsoever. Didn't the E46 M3 engine earn the name "Engine of Damocles" because many owners suffered knackered bearings? Even BMW admitted they had a problem. Main reason most of my M-fan friends went for the M5 instead.
Bet you think you can take my R1 as well

don't be silly, but i bet mine sounds better M5s have a lot of issues too mainy the twin vanos units (left hand side one mainly)
Every car has its issues,it comes with the terriotory of having high performance cars just some are more reliable than others

I do seriously like the new M3 though, however the thing that really puts me off (and you're going to read this and think I'm ) is that I can't stand leather and they don't seem to come without it!!
BTW I never really liked the noise of the last M3. Like the Ferrari 360 it screamed but to me that never sounded very 'healthy'. Yup, my bike screams too but yesterday I bought the quietest helmet going so it's tolerable now. The roar of the new M3 is VERY nice though!

Engines are bomb proof its the gearboxes that are the weak link in RS6s but as long as they have been remapped at the same time as the engine and have been regulaly serviced there is no problems mechanically.Another very weak point is the factory DRC suspesion which is recommended to be ripped out at the first opportunity and replaced with coilovers. As i have said every car has reliability issues but few are more unreliable than impreza engines, just have a look through the forums and see how many engine failures compared to anything German

no need its all friendly banter and anyone who can't take banter should jog on I have had the best of the classics and newages and now have German so can make valid comments

Does the RS6 come without leather? I just like the idea of seats which don't feel like I'm sitting on an ice block in the winter or a hotplate in the summer whenever I get in the car! Much to be said for cloth. Plus it goes better with my Burberry shell suit....

better stick with your burberry if you prefer your scooby but i think half leather was an option but these werent heated. They certainly all came with leather as standard unless specifically requested, although you could probably buy cloth seats for them but i doubt if they would be electric

Doant bate me mo'fo or al 'kin av ya wiv me GTI
I think I'll be resigned to always keeping two cars. One for comfort and one for idiot mode. The RS4 and the new M3 were the nearest anyone came to my expectation of one car to tick all my boxes but the leather issue killed them both, c'est la vie...

I can't say i am a massive fan of leather either but its what the car came with.Afterall its just another tick in the box for me,911 turbo next i think (which no doubt be a worse car than an impreza in some peoples eyes)

LOL - way to start a flame!
Have a look at the GT3 (I think). It has two variable vane turbos which, until recently were only used to give diesels that mental performance we see today. Petrol engines couldn't use them because the technology was destroyed by the higher temps of petrol, however Porsche seem to have cracked it. What we have is a turbo that spools faster and earlier than it should for it's size but still has all it's top end and the GT3 has two of them! Kind of like VANOS for turbos

That'd be the one then - thanks. Say Tony have you heard anything about these variable vane turbos and petrol engines? We've all seen what they can do for diesels. I know the Porsche variant comes from Borgwarner but not much else.
