Most of you lot have never lived!
Best way to do chips, par boil some decent potatoes, chopped quite thick, par boil them in stock with extra salt and some rosemary, deep fry for 10 mins at 150c, let them rest for a few minutes, then crank the heat upto 190c and fry till crisp and golden.
Oven chips are for the unwise.

I have a pro stainless deep fat fryer temp control gets really hot easy to clean,the problem with cheap pretty ones they are a pig to clean and dont get hot enough,alright for Mars bars!

Anyone who thinks oven chips are an acceptable substitute for proper thick-cut, home-made, deep-fried chips, either has no taste buds, or no idea how to cook

You do realise that when you smell something, your nose detects that odour a particles in the parts per million range. So when you smell something, there is hardly any of that material there.
