Indeed!

As far as I've been reading this year there are a good half a dozen tablets popping up from various manufacturers which may have some promise.

I may go for the PalmPad (if it really will come into existence) just so I can own something no one else has/wants with accessories that are priced extortionately. At least it will match my phone though

Wow, I'm such a 'tard, lol, you are talking about the BB tablet aren't ya Snazy, was looking for the CG ad for the Palm Pad!

Sorry but as much as i think they are really nice and all that and i really want want, i just can bring myself to fork out for something which will essentially become an expensive "kindle-esque" reader, or a shiney, shiney to play angry birds on.

I thought the grey haired chappy was wielding one during the presentation? I saw some screenshots from the event and could have sworn he was holding one, but I'm too lazy to go back and check

If he did not have one, as said earlier, doesn't surprise me. I am curious about the device, I'm sure those who want an alternative to an iPad and like RIM may get one, the rest of us are of course just mindless sheep

App store should be interesting, they don't want fart apps (who does though), and only want apps that will keep you coming back to the app, which is good. Wonder how open / closed the store will be, comparisons will be made to Apple's store, which as we know isn't exactly open, and can be very infuriating at times.

Here is the plan:

Get a battered old pug, vw whatever. Park it outside his house, obstructing his driveway. When he comes out to ask you to move, negotiate on the price of the iPad by offering him a cardboard cutout of the new blackberry pad thingy.

He will bite your hand off

Not during the presentation, there is video of the RIM stand at DEVCON which shows a number of the devices in display cases seemingly running a video. Are they fully functional at this time, no idea. Were they physically there.. yes

If it serves a purpose Les, I will furnish myself with one. If it turns out to be a pointless piece of costly hardware, I will pass

Snazy....oh dear

http://gizmodo.com/5725985/blackberr...-7+inch-tablet

The question is: Who, besides BlackBerry users, is going to want to buy it? The core email and calendar apps are completely tethered to a BlackBerry. Without your BlackBerry, there is no native email or calendar app—just access through the (admittedly good) web browser. But that's gonna turn off a lot of people. And we didn't get a chance to see what the new App World looks like, or any of the future apps that could make it a truly killer tablet—or break it.

RIM's got something here that could really stand on top of the bajillion other crappy tablets that are going to launch this year. They just have to take it the rest of the way.
Lol what?

I'm still getting one. Spec looks nice and will compliment my **** loyalty to Blackberry lol.

From what I have seen today it looks like a good start from RIM. Gets some good reviews too, depending who you listen too haha

The CB review and videos of it. A few features not yet running on the beta demo they are using so they say, and more features are expected before release. Interested to see what they finally bring to the table.

Yes but why do you want a tablet that is going to cost a fair amount of money when you have to tether it just to get something as basic as email

I really don't think that will be the case at the time of launch to be honest, and if it IS then I would happily concede that it would be product suicide.

The same argument was made about the iPad too I seem to remember, people including me saying about using it for video calling etc was only possible if you had an iPhone too to tether to.

I THINK that because the bluetooth sync thing has been focused on so much, which transfers all the functions from the berry to the book, including BBM etc, the native apps of the book have been skimmed over. For the BB world this sync with existing berry has been the main want/desire from current users.

I don't for one second claim to know it all, nor feel that it will change the world or anything, but I hope to high heaven that they HAVE ensured there are native apps on there for these functions.

I think the pivot point of it all is if the device has a PIN or not, the hinge point of all things RIM.

I will shut up now as I sound far too fanatical
