I worded it wrong, he can group at 70 yards and he can also go supersonic with low grain, supersonic at 40 yards the outage is about half a meter, in any direction, but its fun hearing the crack, if a massive waste of air.Ive never used a FAC air rifle but had a few at 12ft/lbs. 35yards is the furthest I would go to group consistently and be sure of a clean kill, but the target would need to be still, with excellent conditions. Generally I would go up to 30yards.
Sitting in the back garden though I can get 40yard sub 1inchers using my Air Arms S400 but that needs to be on optimum pressure charge as it isnt regulated and with a solid rest.

The only thing you need to obtain, legally, is the land owners permission. Unless the bird in question is on the protected list or you are shooting game (which would be daft with any air powered gun) that are not in season.

It is a bit cruel to shoot vermin with air pistols, because they are not at all powerful enough, unless you obtain your FAC (firearms certificate) because they are limited to 6 foot pounds and are not accurate over 14-20 feet.
It is not illegal to shoot live animals with a pistol, but definitely cruel.
Get a rifle, with scope.

An FAC which is getting harder and harder to get hold of. It is easier to get a shotgun license. You need to be squeaky clean, references, enough land to deem it necessary to need/require a FAC and a genuine need for the license on that land. Then theres security and subsequent police checks.

One of the main advantages is the flatter trajectories. They dont make them more accurate necessarily but give a much flatter trajectory which is a major plus. If you are hunting there is the added advantage of increased energy being imparted on your quarry but as rabbits (the largest of quarry for airgunners) only require 4ft/lbs of energy with a head shot it shouldnt be regarded as an excuse to hunt over longer distances.

About 750 - 800 fps and I can group at 40 meters, that is the gun has a straight trajectory from 20-40 meters, so it is zeroed at that all the time. obviously go back to 60 meters and aim high, but I'm no good at that.

The hardest thing I found trying to get fac, was getting land permission. The first bit of land a farmer allowed me on, was rejected as unsafe for fac by the feo on his inspection, the second one and the only permission on my fac, was already approved, I stated my resaon for needing a fac as vermin and rabbits and job done.

They are nice, this is the one I have. Solid build, handles well. Wish it had a little more power but as semi autos go these are about as good as they get.

Back garden multi target is its territory. If you want more precise target shooting I would prefer the Sheridan 17. Much higher velocity and powerful single shot.
