Agreed, there are advantages with simtek but not necessary if mods arent that extensive

If nothing else everybody has different opinions lol. That amount of money can be better distributed between other things in your case instead of so much on an ecu that wont really benefit you any more than a ecutek map with what your running. Definetly a turbo is required in my opinion before you even look at an aftermarkey ecu.

Just think, here guys selling the Simtek for classic around 500-600£(for this you have Ecutek licence, which cost same from 550-650£ and paying this crazy money get 270-280BHP from TD04 is crazy),Simtek is good just for few reasons:Mafless,AntiLag(yep, chavy but who care..?)....,simple you are need bigger turbo and other mods as above guys recommend

no I mean 1999 and 2000 classic.

ecutek remap is £550+VAT

you would need to change the turbo - vf23, vf24, vf28, vf29, vf34*, vf35* to get beyond 280bhp.. it was probably low bhp to start with as it will det on the 2.5 and the ecu will be pulling timing to keep the engine hopefully safe.

The money i'm spending on duncans services is 4 figures.
If i go down the tdo5 route with ecutek on my existing ecu will these figures in money be the same value and also the difference in power figures if i say 270 with tdo4 what should i see with tdo5 and ecutek ?

With TD04 you are never pass 300BHP(unless you have TD04H),normal BHP with the TD04 is 270-280BHP(some people report 290BHP).
But best turbo as upgrade is VF35(which cost around 250£ here) and you will need injectors and fuel pump, and probably you will see 330-340BHP.

Standard injectors are fine to 330bhp

The problem with td05 is that the market is flooded with chinese copies and a proper front entry td05 will be too much or difficult to be sure it is a genuine one. Hence vf turbos better choice and more modern turbo with better throttle response.

White turbo blades could mean it is lean but plugs will give true indication
