13 hours 3 gauges receipt & job sheet

It's going to be hard to prove anything as it was paid for by cash, but contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau as they will be able to offer you the best advice. You may then want to get back in touch with these people and explain to them that you feel you have been excessively overcharged and that you'd like a % of your money back. If they don't listen, explaining to them that HRMC may be interested in their VAT avoidance should help you come to some agreement.
And if they still don't listen, use the CAB to make a formal complaint to an ombudsman and make a call to the HRMC about the tax evasion.

not sure why not just say that :S
but now you have, yes it does seem like you've been bent over a barrel, however be interesting to hear what PS have to say about this?

So let me get this right...you paid:
£83.52 on your card.
£115 in cash
and therefore a total of £198.52 for the actual parts.
You then paid an extra amount of cash for the labour? You certainly seem to have paid too much in terms of the hours, but how much in cash did you actually pay extra on top of the £198.52 as I can't see that mentioned anywhere?

I don't know what to say. Your a mug and you got mugged.

OP you seriously must have money to burn, but come on guys no point in rubbing salt in the op wounds, end of the day he's been naive and in my eyes far too trusting, in a sense he has been scammed!!!!
If all the evidence is correct, this does not look good for a certain garage(Reputation Wise at least)!!!

Whats that at the bottom of the receipt about making a loom and having to remove most of the dash!
I though the dash came out as a whole, not in parts, baring the centre console, glove box and instrument cluster of course.

there is no need for the dash to come out at all, looks like they have majorly fudged the hours to suit them but you arent going to get a penny back for not going through the books ref VAT

I will give you an example of a garage that charges as they should
I had an M.O.T £45
O/S/F CV Joint £50 + £40 Fitting
Front Brake Pads £35 + £30 Fitting not cheap pads either
Total £200
Now I'm no garage expert but my brother is and having spoken to him he said this was cheap, the guy at the garage I have used several times before for only M.O.T's but gave him this chance to see if the work and prices were up to standard and I can say from the price and the quality of the work I'm very pleased, he didn't pull my trousers down which in experience he could have as he was doing the M.O.T and could have added anything to the list and I would as you did paid it just to get my car sorted.
The garage had the parts they had changed ready for me to inspect if I needed to and explained everything they had done.
Sorry to say as you have experienced not all garages are the same and as someone else has said it would seem that they were trying to get paid fully for taking most of the dash out and had to make up things to justify the additional costs of the labour involved, its a big job taking the dash out of a classic.
Sorry mate and hope you get something sorted, you can say you have learnt a valuable lesson the hard way

you should always ask in advance how much its going to cost or get some kind of estimate so if they say £300 and then charge you £600 you can have a go back, obviously jobs can be a bitch so i would accept a bit more than the estimate but i would want a phone call to tell me what was going on.
and a grand for fitting gauges - what a joke

i cant work out why you would roll into the garage with £1000 cash in your pocket, and casually pay it, like its nothing...and NOW kick up a fuss. something dont seem right.
think powerstation need to air there views on this matter, as that recipt only proves the prices for parts, and as mentioned no proof of labour charges...so either way your FLOCKED!

whilst my car was there i phoned numerous amounts of times to ask if my car was ready and at the same time how much it would be,i was told by durk at power station they were waiting on the machineist and the bill would not be known untill the work is done.never has any of my cars been in a garage for more than 2 days let alone 2 weeks.i even drove up the 4th day without telling them to see what they were doing, the car was on the ramp with the turbo off and no1 working on it

Certainly are some strange labour figures, I am sure they made perfect sense to the person that wrote them. Very odd. I dare say you paid up in order to get your car back and chose the cheapest way to do that. Not sure you have much hope tbh, and if all this does ring true PS know this Do you have bank receipts for the money withdrawn in order to pay ? You need to bulk your paper trail if you're serious about pursuing a claim

please can someone tell me what way the grooves are supposed to face on my k sport discs, power station swapped them around and i think they have put them the wrong way now.before there was no shaking in the steering wheel now there is at 80 mph,i put brand new wheels and tyres on the car prior to giving them the car and the car had no shaking in the steering wheel.i thaught it could have been because they left the wheel nuts loose but i checked my mates scooby and his grooves are the way my ones were prior to power station swapping them around.i think the discs are wrong now, could this cause the steering wheel shake? also when i take a roundabout hard the car squeaks on the left hand side, this started happening after power station fitted the front and rear roll bars, anti lift kit, drop links, rear pink sti arms and poly bushes the 1st time i went there.it sounds like the disc the disc is sqeaking, please can anyone help with this.also i have noticed the sanwich plate they fitted is leaking a tiny amount of oil, what could i do about this? seal? ? ? ?

I would very much like to hear what Powerstation has to say about this situation.
Has anybody thought to bring this thread to their attention?

Not too sure Powerstation have any need to comment really - OP has come on said their piece - true or not true and has nothing and i mean nothing to back it up except their word.
this person paid out over a grand in cash which is odd in itself and did not get a receipt for the work - who in their right mind would part with that much cash and NOT get a receipt of any kind.
No one knows the agenda of the OP and they do not have anything to back up their story - which is just that - A STORY!
About time the mods locked this if no proof is forthcoming - it has gone on long enough!
Looks like the old adage is true "A fool and their money is easily parted"

Seems they are not interested in commenting. Which makes it difficult for any third party to make a educated judgment or give advice on the matter.
'If' all the OP says is true, and i was PS, then i think i would 'have' to reply. But as has been said, we only have the OP's word/story. And lets face it, he doesn't appear to be the brightest spark in the box.
It is situations like this that makes me realise how lucky i am. Being able to maintain my vehicles myself with the only restiction being tools/equipment. I tend to take it for granted.
