Our schumacher tree blew over in the gales a couple of weeks back.
I've since chopped it up, but knowing thats not correct name for the tree, I was wonder what its proper or latin name is:
New branch growth is furry and sticky, here's a picture: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...b/234ed421.jpg
(chippings smell lovely in the composter

Cheers
Yup I'd say its one of those or a variation of the same species. Has the deep red fruits.
The same tree blew over twenty years ago - what has blown over this time is what spouted up from the old roots. I think its diseased as this time its snapped clean off at the root ball. Probably the soil has been too moist due to crap summers we've had over the past few years (lots of heavy clay).

Today my pink wood with interesting binary trace pattern is white, (or normal wood colour of beige,) with no pink and no pattern..... so I guess you will all have to live without a piccie. (TBTH, when I saw it yesterday I had a good check to make sure it wasn't blood spatter from an unnoticed severed leg or something.)
