Dunno what the fuss is about, his ABS wont be working anyway, if there's a sensor fault then it'll stop the ABS working - which is the purpose of the warning light.

As for crashing, yeah could happen, but my old fiesta doesnt have ABS and its probably better to drive safely and defensively than to think that you can rely on technology to get you out of trouble.

The legalites are another issue, personally I'd rather fix it than drive it.

A bit confused about the issue of not having abs on a car that has abs???

I do alot of drifting and drifting with abs is a nightmare as you can imagine, it confuses it and if/when you spin out backwards you dont stop!

However, I drive a fully prepped E30 V8 which is road legal, which had abs, but since I have comepletely removed it and (in fitting a v8, had to change the servo and moved it to the front of the engine bay) pretty much a whole new braking system without abs, so does this mean that my car is illegal???

I can see the implications of having abs and it not working/faulty in a accident can and will invalidate insurance and more maybe get you in some ****, so if you dont want it remove it properly if not then fix it, its not hard to do so,

Im no great driver i dont think that anybody is, id love to have abs on my car when im driving on the road, i maybe able to relax then

I have had my Impreza for 10 years and 150.000 miles, 5 years with the ABS active and 5 years with no ABS.

In reality, I have had the most dangerous situations with the ABS active - caused by the system's inability to handle uneven surfaces. When braking hard and one of the front wheels run over a bump/pothole etc, something unusual happens: The ABS kicks in - but there is NO brake power whatsoever. Brake power does not return until the pedal is released and pushed down again, and in that time the car has moved a critical distance. Almost put me off the road several times.

After a few years with the fuse removed, I decided to remove the ABS system entirely. This was easy, just find a 2.0 NA donor car and move brake booster, master cylinder and brake lines over - plug & play. An additional bonus is that the spongy brake pedal is gone. The NA brake booster is single stage - giving much improved feedback from the brakes.

i dont see the problem with removing the abs. yes he should at least tell his insurer but it will not make the car un safe. abs was an option on the classic imports. mine doesnt have it. the op can drive it fine without.

Mine doesn't have ABS either, exellent in the winter. When i say stop, it stops.

To the OP, your attitude stinks. You should take on board all advise offered as you're obviously in need of ALL and ANY education (both formal and social) and advice available.
Not only do you not understand the consept of declearing your mods, as if you did then you would be only to pleased to declear them to your insurer. But it would seem, niether do you understand the consept of a public forum.
Tony Burns may not of answered your question, but he offered you sensible legal advise. I was going to say, that next time you post for advise...
But it's irrelivent really, and i would be wasting my time as people of your elk only seem to have a Scoob for 5 mins. Strange that eh.

Thats absolutly wonderful.

So you will be perfectly placed to explain, in a 'straight jon bull' way of course, how you are getting 430bhp from a 2000 turbo, and give the worlds best reason as to why you are running 'all' that power on standard brakes.

By the way, the car doesn't look that well looked after. With all the cr@ppy glue on bits and tinted windows, you look very much like a chav, pal.

You don't seem very mature for a 35 year old.

Once again, a very immature response from a 35 year old business-man.

I ask again, just how have you managed to produce 430bhp from the badly styled chav charriot in you garage. The more detailed you can be about your achievements the better as i am sure my understanding is, compered to yours, very limited.

I don't recall being 'bitchy' in any of my posts in this thread. If i have then i appologise and can only put it down to the stress and strain of my 'sad' life.

Please, if you require any further help or advise re your 430bhp monster, may a suggest you register on barryboys.

Now that sounds like it should be an interesting and educational afternoon. But i very much doubt it.

Will this be before or after you have visited Mr Burns??

Oh, and don't drive too fast on the way here, the roads can be a little twisty and with your dodgy standard brakes and ALL that power. Besides that, your gluey tat may blow off.

You were called a fookwit because you are one, I told you its illegal to mess with your abs, it is, you car will fail its mot, it can reduce the braking capability of your car (there are several more components on an ABS system car to a none ABS equipped vehicle, and was I shaking in my boots, no
