Brass Fin????????????????

Man of Bronze, is that what you are trying to imply?

Man of Steel would be more accurate, but thank you for the complement

Brown claims he saved us from the meltdown by following Keynesian policies. Unfortunately he forgot the hard part of Keynes' prescription - pay down debt when the economy is growing strongly so you have leeway when a downturn comes along. Brown got so carried away with his "No more boom and bust" rhetoric he excused himself from that bit.

Likewise, Labour were just riding on the back of a booming world economy, it was the bankers generated wealth in the economy that allowed people buy nice cars and big houses and for that their bonuses were richly deserved.

Oh but I do remember hearing it from the horses mouth that Gordon Brown did say he "saved the world" during session in parliament.

Your blind obeisance to NL does not hide the fact that you must realise fully that NL made the economy look good by overborrowing as hard as they could go regardless of the debt they were running up and the enormous interest charges to go with that. They continued to trade on our world borrowing status to scrape through the recession initially and failed miserably to regulate the banks, thus being partly to blame for the recession. The so called good times were of course leading to the mess we are in now.

You would do well to bin your bias and step back to take an honest look at the situation.

Honest look at the situation is this:- Labour paid back ALL the debts racked up by the previous Tory Government .... FACT.

Labour were actually in SURPLUS for years - FACT.

They decided to invest in Health and Welfare for all ..... I take it you benefit from the Winter Fuel Allowance? Maybe you send it back in disgust as it comes tainted with Labours fingerprints? I assume you take your fill of the Government Pension? The same Pension enhanced by Labour? I take it you basked in the wealth creation that Labour brought?

Now, of course, it's YOUR heroes turn to have a crack ........ lining their own pockets is what they will be doing!

'We're all in it together' comes the cry from your heroes ..... hmmmmmmm, some are in it more than others! There are 20 Millionaires in the Tory Cabinet .... non of it self-made .... all inherited/given!! They couldn't manage an economy if their lives depended upon it!! Sadly, it is the lives of the ordinary man in the street who will be wrecked, ruined and brought down.

Today is as nothing compared to what we shall witness tomorrow ................

I can assure you that the Tories will have squirelled their £millions offshore and into funds where the taxan cannot go, they will have tipped off their friends and family with riches beyond compare, they will have set their offspring up for life (as they have been).

They will be telling US that we need to pay more, for less, so that their mates in the Banks can still pick up their bonuses!!!

Not being a Conservative (or Labour or Lib Dem) I cant get over the flippant, childish note left by a Labour Minister in the Treasury. Nor the rush by the last Government to spend as much money as possible between January and May on stuff that didnt matter.

They wanted to make sure that who ever came after had as poorer start as was possible. As it was obvious even to them that werent going to get re-elected.

Hardly the mark of a genuine caring Government, staffed by responsible people. It showed us what a bunch of cowboys (and cowgirls) they were.

Being a non party person I also could not understand how they took away many of our civil liberties and made us the least free bunch of citizens in Europe.

Even the Bank of Toyland could have done a better job of running the Economy. The last Government did run the economy, yes they ran it down and down and down.

What ever you think I dont have any support of any political party, I will vote for what I consider to be the party who I feel has the best manifesto, and who will do the best for the people and the Country. So my alleigance may change from party to party at each election and each local election. I have happily supported Thatcher and Blair at different times.

Unlike you Pete I am open minded and not bound by stupid party loyalty.
I am in total opposition to the current Governments plans to reduce defence spending and their plans to build more Nuclear power stations.

A true independant thinker. Try it some time.

I am no Labour supporter, no Liberal supporter and certainly no Tory supporter .... so, stick that in your pipe.

I simply offer a balance to SN on Political affairs ... an intelligent, articulate and witty look at the world of Politics ... Labour have stitched my pension up in the last few years, Liberals are a bunch of wet lettuces (who could say anything they liked as they knew they would never be in power, now that they are - see how they have changed!), the Tories are simply there to line the pockets of the rich ... I should support the Tories but saw them destroy the manufacturing base of this country through the 80's whilst bankers got rich (see any similarity to now?).

I have been around for a very long time .... I was there in the 50's - the swinging 60's - the striking 70's - the riots of the 80's - the mixed 90's and now the 2010's ..... I have seen it all. Most of you are just kids going through it for the first time, still wet behind the ears, still wide eyed and bushy tailed ..... well, I can assure you, within 24 months you will be begging Blair and Brown to come back and give us what we had!

Don't say I didn't tell you ..............
