Congrats to you both

And as for the sex after birth thing, just remember, there's always the bum hole to keep you. Busy until the fanny is back to poking condition.

Well as if 11:30am she was out of care and on the ward we're so happy now!

All being well I'll be taking them both home tomorrow morning.

That bib is massive! Bless her, I bet she seems tiny!

When you going to share the detailed birth story in all it's glory?

Here's hoping that your all together at home this time tomorrow. A tip for you, get a good nights sleep tonight.

the bibs fine it's her that's tiny, she weighs 5lb 15 and even the tiny baby grows we bought bury her

I'll do a brief story got at the hospital at 11am the hospital then decided to take her BP and Blood Sugar levels, around a hour passed and the doctor came round to put the pill to loosen up her cervix.

We was hoping the first one would do it as there is a 4-6 gap till you out the next one in if the first fails.

Around 7pm they decided then that she was ready to have her waters broke then i went went outside for some fresh air and came back and her contractions was starting!

We alerted the Midwife which she then said "i'll sort a labour room out asap" a hour later we was in the labour room.

Few hours passed and starting to get bored of playing all my iphone games the contractions got alot stronger.

My wife Kelly decided then to have some pain relief which helped loads a few more hours passed and this is when i started to get worried.

Her BP was sky high and the babies heart beat started dipping below 100bpm sometimes around 80bpm , they asked her to move on her side to see if the baby was more comfortable there.

But whilst doing this the monitor lost the heartbeat and they struggled to find it with the sensor pads. By then the silence was terrifying i was shaking and was genuinely worried. Luckily they found it again she was just being awkward

By now this is around 12:15 and the pain was coming back and it was unbearable for her with every contraction the baby's heart beat dropped around the 90BPM mark.

I then stressed my concern to the doctor which she'd say she wanted to do a test which will tell if the baby is ok.

This test is was carried out by inserting a tube in the wife foo foo and they put a numbing freeze spray on the babies head and scratched it to draw blood then test it on a machine to check oxygen levels.

The pain was too much for kelly so she asked for a epidural which then we was really worried for kells health and the babies we was in the corridor talking about a C-Section so i went it to the room to speak to the doctor and she said no need she's shot from 7cm to 10cm it's coming now!!!

10mins pushing and cutting her down below baby Ellie was here

You know what, that sounds just like my labour with Fin, but mine was a bit faster.

How is the Mrs feeling? I know how she feels with regards to the dreaded epesiotomy! No jokes about John Wayne or 'here's granny' will go down well! I suppose maybe in a few weeks when she can laugh without being in pain perhaps.

It's all about what's best for you all as a family. Bit it will be upsetting if that is what she wants to do.
Give it time, there is no rush for her to make a decision, so as long as she keeps putting her to the breast, it will stimulate the flow a bit.

There won't be any milk there yet, or it may just be coming in. The colostrum us quite a bit lighter than the actual milk, so if she has been away from mum for a few hours between feeds, the colostrum might not be enough as she should be feeding as much as possible. She/both are probably tired to, and it's a learning curve.

If she does want to do it, ask for one of the breastfeeding co ordinater or equivilant to come and see her.

A lot of the worry is that if the baby doesn't feed, she will starve, but a baby will never willingly allow itself to starve.

All of our 3 ended up on bottle milk and we could feed the exact right amount every 4 hours. All 3 of hours by 7 weeks old would go to bed at 9 and sleep through until 7am. Bottle feeding has its benefits!
They both have their pros and cons, and I think it depends on personal experience as to which you find suits you best.

As a new dad, I am sure the last thing antc needs is loads of conflicting advice, but I am sure we can all give our personal opinion without overwhelming him.

I am lucky enough to have experienced both formula and breastfeeding with my children, and all I can say is that the sleeping habits were ni different for them, but I slept much better when bf.
And I loved the fact that when breastfeeding I could just walk out if the door needing only a few nappies, and not a bag full of bibs, bottles and formula. Not that it was a problem. My son was only 17 months, so it felt like I was taking the kitchen sink everywhere anyway!

Breast is best.

After all, YOU don't need to get up in the middle of the night to feed her .

Unfortunately, Mrs Z decided to bottle feed both ours so we took it in turns.
Sometimes.

Anyhoo - well done to you both.

You have got me all wrong, I wasn't having a dig.

Peace maaaaan.

After all some people (like I did second time around) choose to formula feed, they don't 'give in' or fail at breastfeeding. They make an educated descision based on what they feel is best for their families.

I chose to use formula with my second. Like I said, my son was only 17 months old when my daughter was born. I didn't feel I would be able to have the time to feed on demand as well as give him the time he needed with me. I did it for a few weeks as I felt it important, then I stopped as I knew I was burning the candle at both ends.
With my son being my first I had the choice to leave him there all day and night if possible, but with him being so young when I had my daughter I already had a loose structure to the day. I chose to do what I felt worked out best for us all.

I hope that helps to clear things up?

I was just going by what you said above. "having to give in to bottle feeding".

Ant said above his wife was upset at the difficulties with trying to breast feed and so was now bottle feeding. I was trying to add a positive side for him saying that from my own experience with my kids there are positives to be had from bottle feeding so breast feeding isnt the be all and end all the midwives will tell you it is. That's all.

Hope they come home today, that moment you get to put them in their car seat and walk out to the car and take them home is fantastic
And I agree, breastfeeding isn't the be all and end all of bringing up a baby healthily.

I wasnt trying to poo poo bottle feeding at all. Like I said, I did it. I does have it's pros and cons, as does breastfeeding. It's all down to the individuals.

Lol! 6 weeks is an old 'suggestion' based on the fact medical proffesionals though that was pretty much an average for women to heal after childbirth.
In the uk we have adapted more of the European thinking that there is no 6 week rule, and that women know their own body better. Allowing them to judge when they feel ready. That could be two weeks or two months.

i do believe wimmins who have had an episiotomy walk like john wayne for 2 weeks. so unless your child's head wasn't like a bowling ball it think 2 weeks is a bit optomistic. But hey ho what do i know, i don't even have kids ffs.
