Talking of swapping things - has anyone ever considered switching the front wings on the wagon's for the saloon ones?
Also does anyone know if the wagon lights of the blob eye fit the bug eye?

I'm really liking the lower grill change and the front lip - are they easy to change?

 

Got mine as i prefer the rear lights to newer models and with the morette headlight conversion i think they have the best looking front end aswell.

 

Care to elaborate?

 

Am sure the saloon has a wider track, so you`d have to change the wheels at least to make it look right.
Zunsport grille is a doddle to fit, just a few small holes to drill. Was about 20 mins doing mine.

Well as you were polite, and asked nicely...

The wrx uses a H4 bulb, and the STI uses a H1 for dip and a HB3 for main beam, thus the connectors are different...

Then there are sidelights, indicators and levelling motor connections.

Looking at your picture are they the ebay headlights I see all the time? They look alright, what were they like to fit? Any probs with condensation?

Yep, they`re the ebay twin halo ones. They fit ok but the wiring is a bit of a pain, as the supplied connectors don`t fit. But got there in the end.

Had to cut the supplied connector off and fit spade connectors to mate with the original one on the loom, not ideal but it works ok.

I get some condensation in the inner left hand one, but the other 3 have been ok. Would like the prodrive ones, but at about £300 for used ones, I`ll make do.

 

Cos everytime i drive it i smile lol. It was the right money when i bought it, hadnt been thrashed or messed with other than uprated discs and was the colour i like. decision made bank withdraw 4k collect car. haha. The horrible headlights look so much better tinted and uprated with phillips 50% brighter power still give excellent vision

 

Ive never been won over by the Classic look. Then in 2000 the first newage (bug) had the wide arches and looked much better and was more refined although I wasnt overly keen in the headlights.

So in 2005 I bought my first Scoob:

2005 Dark Mica blue Bug with Morrette's
2007 Dark Mica blue Bug estate
2009 UK300 PPP as a project (engine needed, plus power related add ons), obviously came with UK300 Prodrive headlights
2010 Silver STI PPP as another engine project - bought with blown engine

Basically they are cheaper than the blob and are much more affordable.

 

Agree 100% with you, when compare to blobeye they are excellent value. In my opinion they are excellent value compared to the classic dpending on what the individual wants.

Took it for MOT today and they seemed to like it, well at least its more interesting than a vectra or mondeo

i had a budget to spend and i thought i would be better off buying the bug sti over a classic because of the six speed box, brembo brakes, open source ecu etc...add these to a classic would cost mega ££££££'s.

I guess its a love it or hate thing with a bugeye? Lot of us seem to love ours and rightly so!

 

I bought my 2001 bugeye wagon wrx as my dog was too big for my 2006 astra!! managed to talk the wife into letting me get an impreza after 5 years of trying!!! now trying to talk her into letting me get a saloon too.

 

well i went to a local importer looking to buy an Evo 7.

Test drove one and it wasnt all that inspiring.

He also had a V7 JDM STI which caught my eye. Kept looking at it, and took it for a spin.

From then i knew i wanted an Impreza again and was always a fan of the Bugeye.

So went hunting for one, and got a good deal on a JDM STi. Was really pleased.

Then after seeing some pictures of me in it at the 'Ring, i suddenly fell out of love with its looks. Hated it. Looked goofy.

So options where to sell up or do a front end conversion. As i didnt want the hassle or want to lose money when selling i did a front and rear blobeye swap.

Now happy as larry and love my Impreza again!

 

Just buy it and turn up at home with it, she can't argue with you once it's at home

 

I bought my 02 wrx because there aint many bugs around my end and i think it looks more aggressive (when using the morrette/prodrive lights) than the blob. but at the end of the day i like every impreza and no matter if it a wrx or a 22b i just think these cars are awesome!!!

 

I Think everybody has a variety of reasons all different and all good ones for themselves but one i think we can all agree on is from the turn of the key to turning it off a scooby is way more fun than your average car.

 

That we can agree on, Im sure even a bright pink bug covered in monster energy stickers would still be fun to drive
