MY DAD ALWAYS SAYS IF ANY COUNTRY COMES TO FIGHT THE UK THEN WE WILL FIGHT FOR THE UK NO MATTER WHO IT IS. AS THIS IS OUR HOME so if some random muslim country decides to occupy us then me and my family will die for this country. but for me to go and to another country @iraq@ and rob them for there resources that i refuse to support as its opression.

sorry about my spelling english is my 2nd language.
That is demoagougery. No resources are being robbed. Have you see how hard a bargain on oil royalties the Iraqi government drove when it made that oil liscence auction a while back?

Are you joking me ? Do you actually believe that ? It is clear that you know nothing about the enforced industrial meltdown of Iraq and the mechanisms for transporting all of Iraqs wealth to the USA's largest companies.

Do you actually believe that?

What 'wealth transfer'?

The US lost money with Iraq despite it enriching some companies at the US's taxpyers expense.

Could you please, please, please explain in words that a simpleton like me can understand, what it is you mean by 'Enlightenment thinking'

This is basic, immutable, historical fact: the West was shaped by the Enlightenment. Islam and the countries within which Islam is prevalant (to an overwhelming degree) was not. You keep bothering me with this, yet these terms are immediately familiar to anyone that has even a superficial knowledge of the discussion.

@ Martin

http://www.themodernreligion.com/ht/faith-future.html

Here's a transcript I've just read from the front page of the google I did for you. It's a good example of a Muslim scholar's analysis of the Enlightenment and is helpful because it's not partisan and therefore you're less likely to think that I've posted it with bias or agenda.

I don't appreciate your tone but I'll humour you as it seems to be the only gap left to fill.

As it happens, I've already schooled you on this here:

https://www.scoobynet.com/855681-isl...of-life-3.html

From post 68. You're like a little kiddy that asks a question, gets a fair answer and then asks the same question a few days later.

Anyway, Enlightenment thinking: advocating free enquiry where sound human reasoning is the primary source of authority and legitimacy.

This is in opposition to theonomous thinking where God is the authority and legitimacy is with God's word via scripture.

I subcribe to the former, Islam the latter.

I've watched this a couple of times, now. Tell me, how do you square your religious bondage with the dominant message in this film? To my eyes they're mutually exclusive. We (that'll be human beings) can't move from a monetary system to a resource system whilst we have stagnant Islam in the way. Which do you choose? Do you genuinely think or feel that Islam can deliver the utopian goal without embracing freethinking and therefor committing institutional suicide?

The message in this film comes as a package. What do you choose? Can you choose?
