I think Alonso although a star driver by any standards is also a creepy fellow and not to be trusted as a person going by his behaviour at Maclaren.

Vettel was very unlucky to lose his engine, he deserved to win because of his race performance.

Webber made an error for letting his back wheel on the kerb and paid the penalty for that, I was sorry for Rosberg.

Hamilton drove well but Alonso had the legs on him, probably due to his tyres being better since the Ferrari is softer on its tyres.

Can't work Button out, is it that he is not so good at setting a car up or what? He has the necessary driving skill as we know but his car does not always seem to handle as it should do.

I would like to see Webber win the championship, probably his last chance and I think he deserves it.

Apologies for my earlier remark-my toothache has gone now!

Alonso is the most complete driver in F1 and anyone who thinks otherwise has no idea!

Hamilton - very fast but makes mistakes at vital moments
I think you will find Hamlton has made less mistakes this season than Alonso, but don't let facts get in the way of your hero worship.

Hamilton is the best driver in F1 with Kubica a very close second. If Hamilton has a flaw it is that he is a racer and will always try and seize an opportnity to pass..... exciting for us though.

Another bitchy comment as per usual.

Yes I support Ferrari, but I have always admired Alonso. 99% of the time, he is quicker than his team mate, usually by quite a margin (check the history books -). Yes, Hamilton finished equal to him in 2007, but he didn't 'beat' him did he? Alonso may come across as arrogant, but so what? I'd rather watch him take a corner than Webber for example.

I think Hamilton is a fantastic driver and in a few years, I doubt anyone will be able to touch him. Vettel, Rosberg and Kubica are all up there too. But I wouldn't say either Kubica or Hamilton are better 'all round' driver's than Alonso. In fact, I would like to hear any F1 expert agree you on that one.

If Kubica did get into Ferrari alongside Alonso, I think it would be incredibly close and I can't really see either of them being substantially faster than the other. In fact, the more I think about, I would say Kubica would have a damn good chance of beating Alonso to the title, simply because the man never gets hot a flustered behind the wheel, like Sutil and Vettel do.
But, my money would still be Alonso.

If all things were equal I have no doubt Hamilton would win the title. He has shown extraordinary pace when driving an inferior car. I think he only makes mistakes because he has to push so much more than everyone else just to stay in the running. A better car and he would cruise and show them how to do it effortlessly.

When things were equal with Alonso, he was faster. Now things are equal with the world champion, he's faster.

Really? How come they finished equal on points to Alonso in 2007?
And being faster than Button is difficult is it?

2007 Championship: 2nd Hamilton 3rd Alonso

The last time I looked coming 2nd meant you had beaten the person coming 3rd.

The you would lose your money. I am a Ferrari fan too btw, have been since 1976, but I don't let that blinker my view of their drivers.

Hamilton was as good as Alonso in 2007 and is a much better driver now than he was then.

It will never happen. Alonso would never sanction Kubica in the same team as him or any other decent driver. He could barely handle the start of this season when Massa was in front of him or have we all forgotten his toys out of the pram moments on the radio.

Because he won his 2008 title because Massa's engine blew in Hungary. Fact.
That was Massa's year and always will be in my book.

Raikkonen???

Ah you edited.... I get you now.

So if that were true - will Alonso only win this year's becuase of Vettel's engine blowing? ... Doesn't really work does it?

Come on, even you have to admit that to win the title on the last corner of the last lap of the last race, is slightly lucky!
As I said, Hamilton is one of 3 or 4 driver's that are very equal and each have their good/bad points. Alonso's bad point for example is that he really, really doesn't like to be beaten (is that a bad thing?) Especially after being in F1 for nearly 10 years not once being beating by his team mate on points by the end of the season. But, he is seriosuly quick at all times and can you ever remember him giving up early, like Kimi used to?
Then, when he moves to Mclaren after winnning two titles with Renault, this young hot shot starts to take the lime-light. Wouldn't you be p*ssed off?

ha... Alonso knew what he needed to do Chris... drive faster
No point coming into a new team and expecting respect if you cannot out perform the junior driver... 2 times world champ or not... The resulting saga tarnished him as well as Mclaren in many people's eyes... certainly did mine...up to then I was happy for the young Spaniard..after that Ferrari is welcome to him.. match made in heaven .

Er, he took the limelight because he was as good as him in his first season in F1 and instead of being pissed off Alonso should have got on and shown us this genius I keep hearing about. Instead he tried to blackmail the team and then thanks to Bernie narrowly avoided being sacked and then complains he is not getting equal treatment.... would you back somone who had turned you in to the FIA????

He's not terribly good under pressure for a start.
He's too hard on the car - can't manage tyres etc.
Inconsistant - too many mistakes (mostly schoolboy ones too)

In another year or so then this might well be fixed or certainly better.
Thanksfully he's lost some of the "attitude" which would definately have put a lots of peoples backs up.
He continues to realise this and is still "learning" IMO

So Alonso shopped Mclaren into the FIA for cheating and that's bad thing? Who knows how long Ron Dennis would have got away with his dirty tricks if Alonso hadn't involved the FIA!

He has made less mistakes than Alonso this year despite being in for the most part the slower car.

Can't manage the tyres??? Yeah we heard a lot of that before this season and how this was Button's forte yet Button has had more tyre issues than Hamilton. Just look at Sunday!!!

I think you only see what you want to see frankly.

If Hamilton had been in a Red Bull this season the championship would have been done by now

It's a bad thing if you want to keep your job yes. I was incredulous at how could he expect to have the team behind him after that? Yet he clearly did.

As for dirty tircks do you REALLY think Ferrari were innocent in all that?

Make my mind up about what? I haven't said anything different.

Alonso could not expect to get the backing of the team after threatening to go to the FIA. What is difficult about that?

However I think you are, as ever, forgetting all the facts.

If Alonso had gone to the FIA and told them what some of Mclaren were up to then fine, but he didn't did he? No, instead he went to Ron Dennis and said if he was not made number 1 driver and given preferential treatment then he would go to the FIA.

Dennis (rightly) told him where to shove it and went to the the FIA himself if you remember and then tried to sack Alonso only for Bernie to step in and suggest it would be best for the sport if Alonso saw out the rest of the season. Dennis realising McLaren were already going to get the book thrown at them reluctantly agreed, but never spoke to Alonso again.

Alosno then started moaning that Lewis was the golden boy.... wel he would be as he was the only driver not to try bribing the team LOL! Alonss actually thought this was unfair LOL! What a fool.

Oh and you never answered my last question?

Hamilton in Red Bull - season over
Really?
What about all the failures they've had - or would the boy wonder have driven around those issues

I see what I see - can't do much about that
I seen the boy driving in the pitlane and crashing - what more can I say

I think it is unsafe to say who is the best driver out of all those at the top of the game. It is not just the driving skill of course but also the car, and that is much more significant than maybe people think. Red Bull have demonstrated their car's superiority by their results when the car has remained reliable. Does not mean of course that means their drivers are inferior, they know very well how to use that advantage. Some of the other drivers have also shown their skill by getting the results that they do with less capable cars.

Very difficult to come up with an accurate assessment of the man who is best at sheer driving.

Believe me, if you have a car which is a bit short of performance one way or another, you have got a seriously bad disadvantage and which is virtually impossible to overcome.

Lets not forget, Massa was leading the race renault fixed, resulting in Massa losing alot of points to Hamilton, if that never happened Massa would have won, which in my eyes makes it a tainted title

IMO Hamilton WILL struggle to become world champ again, I've not seen anything impressive from him this season, I was much more impressed in his debut season

Lets not kid ourselfs here, Hamilton has ALWAYS been the no.1 at mcLaren, even with Alonso there, so finishing equal on points is pretty good, Hikki and Button dont seem to be upto it

I understand why the English hate Alonso, as the Spanish hate Hamilton, but your seriously letting that get the better of you if you can honestly sit there and say Hamiltons the better driver, but dont take my word for it (click)

The Ferrari and McLaren have been off the pace this season, Ferraris now starting to shine through but for a while McLaren were better, Alonso and Hamilton have over-performed in their respective cars all season, more so Alonso though IMO

Could have been a different story though if Lewis kept the head

What are you implying? That Ferrari told Nigel to give the info to Mclaren only then to deny all knowledge and get them punished by the FIA. Would love to see how that would have played out if Ron hadn't been given an ultimatum by Alonso.
