The weird thing is Shaun that the aerial in the a-pillar isn't really an indication of age from what I hear.
I ran a thread about this on Surrey Scoobies asking if anyone else had a crap a-pillar aerial like mine
I think the results yielded even one blobeye owner having one, and some 01 and 02 plate cars had em whilst some didn't; it didn't seem to matter whether they were UK or JDM models; maybe the bods at the factory ran out of aerial cable a few times

The revision 1 bodyshell had the a-pillar radio mast and the revision 2 bodyshell didn't.........the way I read it was that Subaru kept revision 1 bodyshells aside for the RA model which flopped and the bodyshells were later released.

Urban myth probably LOL

2001 cars had the ariel and 2002 didnt (rear screen), plus it would have had to have been a JDM STI, and its definately not an STI (the JDM would have had hid lights fitted).

A lot of Imports STI's dont have HID lights as these are removed for the vosa inspection on arrival in the uk as the car wont get passed for use in the uk with JDM lights. As they are more expensive STI uk spec lights they usually use standard wrx ones. Ive seen this on quite a few cars there are a few on ebay currently and on autotrader. Not a definate answer just a small point to raise

If youve got jdm hid lights wouldnt it be better to just scrap the hid and turn them into uk spec it would be cheaper than replacing them, that car looks like its got a wrx scoop anyway

........and to the people who doubt his claims, maybe the car itself isnt a match for a GT3 but this fella could pilot this scoob!.....maybe if more people actually used their car's in anger instead of just posting up pictures on an internet forum just after they have cleaned, they will realise how capable an Impreza is in the right hands...

What you say is all well and good Jay but it's got nothing do do with this thread. The only "claim" this thread is about is to do with the owner advertising the car as an STi when it patently isn't. Whether the current owner is capable of driving it properly is neither here nor there.

It's hardly surprising the owner's claims are "doubted" when something as basic as the car model has been misrepresented in the advert.

Fair comment but i can guarantee 50% of all impreza's advertised fall into the misrepresented catogory.

Whilst speaking to the guy he told me has'nt a clue about Impreza's and only bought it to get him to Belguim and Germany and intended to sell it on his return. So, i guess the reason for it being advertised as a WRX STI is because thats what he thinks it is and not the fact he is out to mislead people.

You no doubt have a point (although as far as the percentage is concerned, the best you can offer is a guess, not a "guarantee").

Again, whether it's a deliberate misrepresentation or an accidental one, the reason doesn't matter as far as this thread is concerned. The only thing that matters here is that a potential buyer was interested to know whether the description was accurate or not. If it isn't, the reasons are largely immaterial.

Thanks for all the advice guys, turns out the guy now concedes the car is a WRX but he bought it believing it to be a STI and wants to see his money back or near enough on the car, so won't shift much on the price, Anyhoo !
there are lots more for sale.
