That is nice. Is that normal price? Seems a little low. I prefer the front bumper on these to the 8s and 9s but the bonnet vent looks limp compared to the 5,6,8 and 9s. Interior is much improved upon from the 6 as well.

I like the more modern look of the 7 but the 6 looks far more purposeful and meaner. I think if it were my money I would get most excited about the 6 and then veer off and buy the 7.

The Evo 7,8,9 or was it the 7,9,8, err, who said that Porsche were the laziest designers?
I actually think the 8 looks best overall to be honest.

Thanks jura11. The 6 is the only one that gets my attention but for the extra I would prefer the 7 or a 6 with the Tommy Makinen bumper. Its going to be a while until Im 30 and have built up a better no claims but Im getting hugely drawn to the idea of an Evo now, although its something to savour and look forward to.

I nearly did a swap for a evo 8 on these forums a few month's ago, but went against it in the end because it was black and 6 weeks before a Medium had told me to avoid a black car that is offered to me

The only one appeals to me be evo 7/8 in red with the trick bits in carbon
- but lets face it they basically a fugly box
- any /in deed everybody takes you for a boy racer , bit embarrasing once over 26

but a grown up boy racer non the less
When I was looking at the Evo 6 up close it has all the boy racer bits, wide mouthed front bumper (for the FMI), bonnet vent, cold air intake, big spoiler, red calipers (Brembos), big wheels (OZs), largish exhaust, wheel arch extensions. The main thing is that this is all for purpose and not for show as you see on boy racer corsas. This is why its almost not a boy racers car but a man racers car.

but I take your point and is one of the main reasons why I said I would probably buy the Evo 7 or 8 rather than the 6 for that very reason, it looks a little more grown up (and newer).

I've been down there looking with a mate who was interested in a subaru, let's just say the adverts look good.. There was honestly only one impreza there I'd have been happy to buy out of all the cars.
I don't understand why they don't prep them for sale before being on the forecourt. They are filthy, some need paint (ie when you enquire about a purchase they say this will be done etc) and they aren't registered or anything. When Im looking for a car I go armed with the dollar, think he said it was a 2 week min wait if you wanted one. The impreza my mate was looking at was silver and the whole thing had been really badly resprayed. The shiney ad pics and the mint descriptions paint a vastly different picture to the ones I've actually seen. I realise a lot of old cars have had paint etc but the price on their cars and descriptions lead you to believe they are something special or at least good.

I know what you mean about the imprezas. They didnt look that great. The Evo I was looking at was very nice infact most of the evos looked better than the imprezas.

I drove past an Evo 8 today that looked every bit boy racer fugly box. I dont think they are that bad standard to be honest but the problem is most people cant help fettling with them and ultimately ruining their appearance. This one had after market splitters and all sorts. LEAVE IT ALONE, I mean theyre not exactly understated are they.

They have much stronger internals than Imprezas, hence the large number of highly tuned Evos around.
Mine was running 360 bhp for most of the 3 years I had it and never missed a beat.

His thought were:
Evo - over rated
Skyline - brilliant, but VERY high runnings costs
Impreza - ticked all the boxes, but felt dated (was a 1993 WRX, modded)
He drove my 2003 STI, and loved it, said he much preferred it to the Evo.... but my Impreza has some choice suspension mods, and his Evo was standard suspension wise (but had 360bhp), so maybe not a 100% fair comparison.

The **** seems to have dropped out of the Evo's recently price wise.
Several nice VI's around £7k on Pistonheads
