I just couldn't risk letting them write it off, it such a great car that I would have been gutted for the car if that had happened, gutted for me too!

The pictures I have posted above make the whole thing look a lot worse than it is.

The boot lid looks like it is OK, it is just the hinges that are bent, hinge mounts are also straight.

I have a new door coming in the next few days and also some new hinges for the boot lid.

I also have a replacement boot lid on its way just in case mine is bent, but eyeing it up, it looks fine.

Spoiler has a couple of cracks in it which will require sorting and painting, Subaru want £1800 for this spoiler alone!

The suspension is bang on, had an alignment done yesterday, only a quick check on a laser alignment and there was no huge discrepancies on alignment. There is not a mark on the wheels or tyres for that matter. If the suspension or chassis had been damaged then I might not have been so hasty to rectify this problem myself.

The biggest problem of course is the arch, dog leg, door shut, what ever you want to call it. I have been assured by a few different people that it be knocked out and filled.

But if the worse comes to the worse I will have to have a new arch cut and welded in, don't want to do that, thats last resort.

The car is going to the most highly skilled bodyshop in the area.

Will keep this thread updated with pictures of the progress as and when it happens.

Thanks

DoZZa

I did think about that, but there isnt anything that needs doing, unless you can suggest something?

Nothing from a body shop point of view mate, just make sure she gets a good servicing that she deserves .

I like the look of the hawkeye in white with Black rims as it already is/was If you need any graphics replacing I might be help in that dept though.

You could get the car re-mapped with switchable maps, one 100% power and the other "limp mode" for the next barny.. lol

Exactly, I didn't want them getting their filthy mitts on it!

Its with one of the best panel beaters in Devon, he works by himself and his work is outstanding, the only downside is the waiting, but I am in no rush to get the car back as long as its perfect.

Thats good to hear. I'm glad they could fix it instead of welding on a new panel. And from the looks of the repair, it's well worth the wait.

Just some pictures after the repair.

Ignore the tax disc date, I have one for it, honestly!

Its also missing the front splitter, just waiting on HTA Subaru to send it to me then it will be 100% complete.

There is also an addition of CDF Racing 25mm spacers all round, certainly makes the wheels fill the arches better as they looked a little lost in there before. Handling is also slightly improved which is a bonus!

Hes very skilled mate, there is not a garage round here worthy enough of his skills.

I am very much back in love mate. Cant thank you enough for introducing me to him, I owe you a few beers mate

I did not see the VXR, but then I had tunnel vision and was just amazed at the work Andy had done.
