To the OP- get yourself over onto AberdeenScoobies:

http://aberdeenscoobies.invisionzone.com/index.php

and introduce yourself there is a good community of Scooby owners and failing getting test drives at any garage I'm sure somebody could sort you out to show you the power delivery characteristics

You'll have a problem finding Andy in Glasgow. He's at Port Seton, east of Edinburgh.

Welcome aboard mate.

Hope your search comes good and you get the car your after.
330-340 bhp can be had easy from the car with simple modifications.

I really wouldn't bother going PPP route. A 3" exhaust or 2.5" will be fine. Uprated Panel filter and a re map (£600 EcuTek or £300 for open source map) will see you 320bhp - 330 bhp. Decat will help spool but for me Personally I didn't bother. And still haven't gone decat.

I personally couldn't stand the VF35 turbo. The surging issue put me off etc.
Back to the Megane 225 , I really couldn't tell you what it would be lke with punch. If the turbo is anything like the Cupra R K05 turbo then the Impreza will kick in a little later but keep going a little more.

I understand you can over come the suging slightly by fitting a 3 port boost solenoid but never tried it myself.

Don't get me wrong the VF35 is a good turbo. But personally I found it a nightmare to live with with it's in and out boost (surging) and making you want to change up and down the gearbox .

I've driven a STi Bug on a VF34 and that was a lot better and smoother through the revs and seemed to want to keep going at the latter end of the revs. Not by a great deal but enough to notice.

I went straight from a VF35 on mine to a MD321 T turbo. Some have changed theres from a 16G,18G,SC36,MD321 H etc. The choice is yours mate. You have to look at what your goals are and what the car is used for.

what is wrong with the other car
It was my sons car, bought from new. At 1 year old and just 3400 miles he was hit almost head on by a little old lady in a Metro and the car was declared written off by the insurance Co. (Considerable front end damage and twisted main frame etc.) The 80yr old was totally to blame and prosecuted.
The next time I saw it was in an advert from a car dealer in Burnley as a one owner car with 34000miles I posted a warning on here about the true history of the car.
I guess someone is driving it, possibly unaware of it's early life as, the last time I checked on the DVLA, it was still registered.

JohnD

PS Just checked the DVLA and it's taxed (re-new due Jan 2011)

It's all horses for courses mate to be honest. What I'd suggest others wouldn't agree etc.

But personally I'd go for a MD321 H .

If it makes you feel at ease I am running standard internals, most hoses etc and running at 453bhp.

Jesus. Any pics mate? Maybe the owners will come across it etc?

Beats when my old WRX was written off and without me knowing the car had been brought and was stripped and being sold off bit by bit on eBay 4 days after my crash a few years ago.
