If you look into the manifold where you removed it from there should also be a small round piece of wire gauze, take this out and give it a blast with a can of brake cleaner...

hi mate, just seen your post about the wire gauze....but it all back last night reset the ecu and it went well for about 15 miles i thought thats it job done then the ecl came back on and the same 3 codes gutted. so i think i will sort it after christmas thats if i can get hold of a new iacv before then.

update on faults....iacv has been changed and no fault on that or the knock.only one fault left now and is vss so today changed the speedo cable reset the ecu, cel went out and it keeps coming on and going off?? but the code is still 33.what else can i change? what is that unit that the cable plugs into then into the box? could that be at fault. thanks

That is the VSS, and yes could be broken or loose/disconnected.

hi mate, when you say disconnected there are no wire's coming from it...it's just a push fit into the gearbox. also is that what converts it from k to mph? thanks

Yeah sorry, i meant the speedo cable has become disconnected, ie one of the ends has popped out of the drive. My cable was mis-routed making it 'just' long enough, hence if i hit a good bump or disturbed it in any way then i got a CEL and limp mode.

hi, new part came the other day (the bit the screw's into the gear box for the speedo) anyway as above done the cable done this part and the light is still coming on then off then on arhhhhhhhhhh i then pulled apart the small unit between the cable and the box it has two cogs and a small belt...dont know what to look for but it was working. anymore info would be fab.

update to this thread.....found the fault with the ecu....as above i had 2 x faults 24 and 33 and this was doing my head in anyway the cold weather last christmas split my heater matrix so a new one was in order, had a week off this week and thought i will sort it out..omfg thats all i will say about the dash and the heater matrix. while the dash was off and i could see the wiring loom and i found 3 x wires that had been spliced to the loom??? when i got the car it had a vdu with revs,speed,oil,water and turbo timer which did not work proberly so i took it out and two of the wires were for fault code 33 so i soldered them back together and by damm went for a long run and no CEL yes thats no CEL happy days and also i dont have fuel cut with means that iam back on full boost. thanks to all that have replied to this post...but iam sure i will be back soon....lol
