http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2251986.htm £4500, higher mileage and older than mine, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2243715.htm £4495, higher mileage, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2135508.htm £3995, higher mileage, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1899868.htm £3500 higher mileage, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2167753.htm £4000, slightly lower mileage, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2135618.htm £3995, lower mileage, 3 years older, lesser spec.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1683020.htm £4400 lower mileage, lesser spec, older car.

this is what iv found whilst looking for nice uk turbos with low miles, i think this proves that based on the market my car is very fairly priced. the point to this thread was that the rb5 is overpriced, the nearest priced rb5 i can find is £6250, most are around the 4k mark.

please feel free to come and view my car and tell me that its not worth 4k.

I had an offer of 4k when i had the car priced at 4250, who travelled from kent by plane, needless to say i thought he would pay the asking price, i stuck by my guns and wanted the 4250, he never haggled only made one offer of 4k, so he lost out on the car. in hindsight i should of just accepted his offer, hindsight is a great thing, and trying to sell a car at this time of the year is a struggle.

I conclude that the rb5 in question is overpriced, and that my car isnt.
Neither am i on medication.

At the end of the day any car is only worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it! If somebody wants a low mileage RB5 they will pay that for it and the same with your car Mr Hat if not then it will stay for sale until you drop the price!

Its the sellers car and they can advertise it for what ever price they want, if it sells is a different matter

Mr Hat,
I sort of agree with you, as I'm in the same boat, http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2205284.htm
We see the value in our own cars (compared with some of the c**p for sale), trouble is it's a buyers market, and a rubbish time of year to sell. Plus some of the prospective buyers haven't got a clue about the need to make sure what you are buying is genuine, they dont understand the importance of these cars being looked after properly (until something goes wrong in a big way - then their wallets will be telling them they should have looked for a car with better history etc..).
Unfortunatley buyers for our cars, who may be willing to pay a little extra for a non modded std car (and to be honest - 'old' car)are a bit thin on the ground. I think it's just a waiting game, they are out there, but if you need to sell then you need to take a hit on price.

A car is only worth what someone will pay for it..

Ian..

p.s. I'd probably take £4k for mine - if someone offered it. It will be a sad day when it does go, but needs must.. Still the best car I've ever owned by a country mile ...

I remember you, you're the same mr hat who trolled the rb5oc forum last year and harassed one member's for sale thread because you thought £6k was overpriced for a mint rb5 that you had no intention of buying.
Got a bit of a bee in your bonnet about prices have you?

at last, somebody sensible posts on scoobynet. your car looks great, and is exactly what i looked for when i bought mine, but they are very thin on the ground (low mileage minters) i have had a few enquiries in the last couple of days, two of which are local to me, so i will wait and see if they turn out to be genuine or just time wasters. it is a bad time of year to sell a car. good luck with your sale.

oh oh............. here come the angry rb5 members who think there cars are worth so much more than uk turbos. i was looking for a classic, and considered a rb5, they after research decided that they werent worth it for a badge. so i bought a uk turbo instead and specced it way above a rb5. you have a problem with that??

I would rather have an RB5 over a UK turbo any day because it's a limited edition and it looks great, UK turbos just aren't special enough so the RB5 is clearly worth more.

AudiMan has said nothing nearly everyone has said to you in your other threads. 95% of the replies on all these threads have all been reasonably supportive but you won't have it.

As for whats gone before in your other threads and on the RB5 forum, you're really not painting a great picture of yourself.

You've got me all wrong pal, I'm quite realistic with pricing, my rb5 is an abused daily driver with 100,000 on the clock, I know exactly what it's worth which is why i'll never sell it.
I'm also not angry at all infact I'm very happy. The only reason there were ever any angry rb5 owners is because you trolled the owners club and acted like a **** because they were too expensive for you.
I don't have a problem at all with your car, I quite like it but I'd definitely rather have an rb5 any day.

As said above - there isn't enough to an RB5 which would make me splash more cash over and above a uk turbo. In fairness though, i don't think Subaru have produced a special edition which is different enough other than a P1or 22B.

The problem is the price range Mr Hat's car is in.

So many Imprezas for sale, through so many price ranges. 4-7 thousand is a weird amount for selling any car private, just due to the fact that many people don't have 5k for a used car. Look at small cheap car garages. Everything is around £3k as it's a price that sells.

The average Impreza driver is either going to have a couple of grand in cash and want something cheap to hoon around in, or enough to splash on a £10k + one, or get one on finance.

I would have thought only an enthusiast might pay 8k for a classic , surely most general buyers would want a newage for that figure.

Oh dear, you completely miss the point. In 5 years time tidy classic impreza's will be the exception, just look how many cars are getting destroyed & broken just now, this will only increase. Then from this reduced number there will be rare examples of ltd edition models which will command a premium.

Best example, Escos, prices hit rock bottom, thrashed & bad examples are gone or disappearing, mint examples command a premium with ltd editions such as Monte's even more so, now the classic impreza will eventually go the same way!!!
