Ran this on my Previous Type R which had a TY754 Sti 6 Type R box init
With plenty of launches like this :-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK4bvCokt6s
And the new owner tells me its still going strong....
I think MartynJ of EngineTuner holds the record at pushing over 500BHP on a TY754 and running 10s on the drag strip before shearing a gear...

I run identical spec to the above. I managed 400 miles after being mapped for the above and it ate 5th gear. So it is basically your luck. At the time of breaking i was doing about 50 and just put my foot down to overtake a car and bang no more 5th gear.

John, I've got a TY754VN1AA in mine, been in 3 years now I think, not running massive power admittedly.
OEM 230mm clutch the same length of time. Starting to get a whine/rattle on over-run, which I'm not convinced is the box.
I'd estimate 30-40 proper drag launches on this box, maybe more I'm not sure, plus all the day to day driving.

Just rememberd the figure as a rough estimate to what the 2.1 and a 20G is cabable of doing, was hoping mine would be similar since the specs of the cars are so close..

Im not even intrested in times TBH, any dumpling can drive a car up a straight bit of track lol
The only times im intrested in is the ones with corners involved.

Cheers people.
It looks like the odds are on our side re. keeping the box intact - esp. if no launching (which I don't do) . But of course the cruel hand of fate could extend its middle finger lol at any time...
Yep, my spec will also be the ubiquitous FMIC, 550s and 20g...
Keep it coming - I'm really enjoying these gearbox-based anecdotes lol....

Running 330-340ish of both, 1st gear in original TY754 (MY99 UK) failed after quite a soft launch. Currently running a whiny STi TY752 with a clattery rear diff which is still getting abused and taking it so far...
(I may have a history of 'bad luck' with gearboxes though)

MY00 version 6 STI non RA transmission holding 383lb/ft to the wheels
gI have a 2003 USDM WRX built 257 hybrid short block with 99.75 JE Hybrid pistons and forged rods and necessary modifications with brand new 205 heads powered by a Blouch 18g XT-R dual ball bearing turbo. The transmission is a MY00 WRX STI version 6 non RA gears 5-speed that have been heat treated and shot peened and then put into a MY04 case half with Moore blast plates it’s been gong 4 years at 374 wheel hp and 383 wheel torque that comes on pretty quick. I don’t launch and it feels as good as it did the day it was installed. I even reused the R160. Use ACT extreme WRX clutch good to 510 brake torque and light flywheel. Very happy I enjoy the gearing better than the USDM MY03 WRX. Short gears 1-3 and 4 and 5 are like USDM. Gearing ratios are identical to the gear ratios that came in the Legacy GT. My car is my weekend car I enjoy back roads and group trips. That and taking care of her or she wouldn’t have lasted this long. I wouldn’t go much above 383 wheel torque as even up graded axles won’t help very much at that point. Thus far it runs like a dream and engine was built and balanced by Circuit Motorsports and tuned by Stew Jones. Again don’t even think about launching a 5-speed or say goodbye to your transmission sooner than later or the parts associated with the trans like axles and diffs center and rear may go by by. Transmission holds up well during nice highway pulls as well.
