there was no DNA evidence in the boot that linked to Maddie - it was made up by the Police to get a confession

there was DNA obviously, but then there is probably DNA in everyones boot

Quite interesting how there hasn't been a spate of kids going missing to the mystical child snatchers of Portugal - or maybe there's been a news blackout to save parents getting too worried.

Does there have to be a spate to make it real? What about when Ben Needham was snatched??

Top and bottom, we don't know what happened.

But if it was my child, reagrdless of time, I would not rest until I was dead until I knew what had happened.

Had Maddie been out with her parents and been snatched in a similar way to the unfortunate Ben Needham (Left in the care of doddering old tw@ts) then there would at least be some credence to the story.

The fact we are supposed to believe that the crappiest parents in the world were also visited by a door to door gang of child snatchers (only interested in 1 out of 3 kids) is frankly ludicrous !

i keep an open mind to what happened. but i know my heart goes out for those who actually do miss madie. she did have other family other than her parents and i bet they too feel just as much pain

Believe me, its a real trick trying to carry three young children all at once!

I see what you're saying and not so long ago I would have agreed with you.

Now I've got a 9 month old daughter, I'm not sure I could move on if I really thought there could be a slim chance that she really was out there somewhere.

Cynical *******s!

What if its genuine? Imagine how you'd feel if it was your child? I know for a fact I'd never stop looking nor give up hope.

I was thinking that too, but if they were drowsy and the room was darkened they may well have thought that one of the parents had picked Maddie up.

Once kids are asleep they could easily not notice anything. I can walk into my son's room (5) at night, turn the light on, pull drawers in and out and shout to/at mrs FB in the next door bedroom without him twitching. Come 6am in the morning though...

I couldn't stop looking either and wouldn't mind betting the opinions as to keep looking / give up are split pretty much along those who have kids versus those who don't.

Well known psychological problem for parents/ siblings if a body is never discovered e.g. plane crash etc - they can never really settle until they know for sure by seeing a body.

I found exactly the same with my children. Never noticed anyone coming into their bedroom.

I'll second the comments about about kids not being easily awakened. My twins (5 months) sleep in the same room in adjacent cots. My daughter will scream loud enough when she awakes, to awake my wife and I who sleep in a room behind a closed door around 30 feet away, yet my son will be undisturbed by this.

I have been to Praia da Luz, a short time after this incident. It is a remote little place with nothing of significance there, it struck me as some where you would wish to stay to be on a quiet family holiday to unwind and do nothing other than "get away from it all". Like many small villages on the Algarve, it seemed like a close community, where everyone knows their neighbours. Without debating the rights and wrongs of the McCanns actions, I can see how they may have been lured into thinking this was a crime free place, and where you would drop your guard in terms of personal security.

Nearby however is a major port at Lagos, where it is conceivable that an abductor could travel by sea to Morocco, and onwards through North Africa. Where I suspect the chances of detection would decrease significantly.

My wife and I returned to the Algarve for a holiday the following year, there was a notable decrease in the number of "missing" posters.

For those who believe the McCanns are in some way implicated in taking their daughers life and disposing of the body, would the element of panic and pressure of time combined with being in a country where the geography and terrain were unfamiliar not make this and almost impossible crime to execute without detection???

Bottom line is it was unforgivable for them to have left there kids alone, I have no sympathy and I can understand why people would think that they were involved.
I can't see intelligent people leaving their kids alone in a foreign country with windows and doors unlocked!

My thoughts are-

I think either that is the truth and someone at the bar or restaurant they were at over heard them saying they would be back in a minute were going to put the kids in bed.

They sold Maddy which is the darkest thought as I think that they would have taken all of the kids.

Or somethings went very wrong that they couldn't explain and they got rid of the body.

I thought that all the sympathy should be with Maddie herself, and the search should continue until there is no further chance of finding her.

Pure speculation without any proof is useless and wrong anyway.

+1.

The truth will never be known unless Maddie turns up on some sick video.
