Why is it that as soon as they become Project Manager they think the best way to "manage" people is by shouting, being domineering and talking down to them like they were children?

Is that not the way of working life? I've recently got a new manager (a good friend actually) and he has a similar approach to management. Its very hard to take in the mornings but he does get results.

When Lord Sugar announced that Stuarts team had won, his face was brilliant - proper "A J Rimmer" face he pulled.
Nice to see Stella putting the knife in, she's been quiet up till now.
I quite like Joanne - I would enjoy her company more than Liz I reckon.

I read somewhere that Stuart is the son of a very wealthy man and gets a grand a week as an allowance, that may be bollocks and me being a bitter old **** but all I could find about his enterprise is he sold YoYo's at school but is in telecommunications ?
I would say good luck to him but to be honest, no, based on the evidence there are plenty of people more deserving of it.

What is the selection process for getting to the TV show part of the apprentice. I work in the technology sector, I am by no means at the top of my profession, but I could buy and sell any of the doughnuts on that show.
I guess the focus in on finding one or two with some business acumen, the rest of the requirement is about making good telly.

lee247: lol he was funni at uni! had a right laugh! he clearly didnt wanna be there because he messed around so much in lessons. i remember a number of prank calls he did to sheilas wheels saying he is a transvestite.. but that all aside lol he is the same on tv as he was at uni!
j4cko: your probably right! i reckon its his dads company, as he wasted a complete year at uni doing sod all other than ragging a mini cooper s, tt turbo.. vx220 etc. every week was a different car. he was so spoilt and we all just thought he was blowing his student loan as he'd go missing for a few weeks.

The pranks sounds quite amusing, ok, but he should stick at being a laugh and leave the Collosal Business Bell End thing alone. I couldnt work for him, I would end up goring him with a Biro within a week.

OK - its not terribly nice, but it does actually work.
Its used on 3 specific employees in my work who, how shall I say - they like to stop and smell the roses along the way.
Hey ******, BACK TO WORK!
No, not like that - honestly.
Its more a case of telling them when things have to be completed by and checking progress along the way with "special ones"
