My misses ordered £200 worth of xmas presents the last sunday and HDNL was supposed to deliver on Wednesday this week while I was off work. They delivered on Tuesday we were out so the driver "left items round back of house" I arrived home to a delivery card stating this and no items round back of house. I called em and they are still investiging the case. Why O why would you leave 3 bags of xmas presents to rear of a property thats open to the public with no secure gates or shed to leave the items in ?! fckin **** !

Here is another HDNL (Home Delivery Network) tale of woe.
I ordered something from Amazon as a xmas present for a relative, i checked on the tracking link on Amazon today to see if it was out for delivery as the delivery date had passed by.
Apparently the parcel had been delivered on Friday 10th in the afternoon which was 5 days ago, i thought that was a bit odd as nobody was in on friday afternoon and if any parcels had been left with a neighbour they always bring them round the same evening around tea time.
I rang HDNL, what a nightmare that was. I was on hold for approx 20 mins in a que then the phone clicked as if someone was answering then the line just went dead. I rang again and went through the same process, it was 25 mins then someone finally answered.
I explained the above and asked the girl who was it that signed for the parcel as nobody was in here on friday afternoon, she said the driver has left it somewhere but we don`t know where as it didn`t require a signature, i said why didn`t he put a card through the door to let me know where he`s left it. She said they normally do, i said he obviously hasn`t as i wouldn`t of wasted almost an hour trying to contact you to find out where my parcel is.
I told her that the neighbours always bring any parcels round the same evening that they were delivered, she said i don`t know where it is you will have to ring Amazon and she gave me their number. From getting off the phone with Amazon that was a 40 mins experience as well, 20 mins in a que and 20 mins trying to resolve it, it didn`t get resolved as they no longer have the item in stock and it will take 5 weeks to come back in stock. She offered me a £5 credit, i told them to stick it as that wouldn`t even cover the phone calls... I said just issue me a refund and i won`t use Amazon again until you use a different courier service as HDNL are a comedy outfit.
Someone i know had a parcel left in their blue bin by HDNL, its the bin you use for cardboard etc. He only came across it when he was putting some paper into the bin, it had been their for 5 days. Just imagine if they had collected the bin before he got to the parcel, luckily for him they collect once every 2 weeks.

just chased up an order today, and they said they have just sent it today.... gave me a tracking number and its for HDNL

It would be possible to track down your first parcel ask amazon to raise a query on the hdnl resolve system asking them to check the geo location of the scan and to ask the driver where he left them, it will take a day or two but you might just get your parcel as they will always interview the driver if a parcel if it is not found.

It sounds like one of your neighbours has your parcels, you would not believe the amount of times that HDNL have left a parcel at an address only for a neighbour to go round pick it up and keep it in there house for "safe keeping" and then not bring it back round for 2 weeks.
I used to be a courier driver for 10 years before i became an HGV driver, the thing that suprises me most is they didn`t leave a card, normally if you leave a parcel with a neighbour you leave a card for the customer to tell them where the parcel is.
Customer services at HDNL said that nobody signed for the parcel and the driver has left it somewhere but they don`t know where lol, thats just comical. I just can`t believe that HDNL drivers are allowed to leave a parcel without a signature, thats the biggest incentive in the world for someone to steal one if their that way inclined, at this time of year their will be a lot of presents being delivered so drivers will know that their are some decent things on the van especially with Amazon all over the box.
When your a courier driver you become experienced with whats probably in a box due to where its come from and its weight, as an example of you have probably had a DVD from Amazon in the past and their unique packaging for DVD`s gives you a massive clue, its the same with aftershave and perfume etc.

It should give you a delivery status, as an example it should give you one of the following.
1. Arrived at local depot awaiting delivery. (Means its still at the depot)
2. Out for delivery with the driver.
3. Delivered.

The neighbours either side of us are spot on, both are retired, one used to be a court usher and does everything by the book and the neighbours the other side do a lot of work for charity.
I used to be a courier driver for 10 years before i became an HGV driver, the thing that suprises me most is they didn`t leave a card, normally if you leave a parcel with a neighbour you leave a card for the customer to tell them where the parcel is.

If you have a "S" sheffield postcode its most likely to be going in to the chesterfield depot which currently has a 2 day backlog of parcels to scan in.
Going from the delivery times for our own parcels through that depot you are looking at Sat/Sun unless you have more snow

from my local depot every HDNL driver deliver 50 or 60 amazon parcels every day, all amazon stuff is in amazon boxes so everyone knows whats inside, there are many many systems in place to stop drivers stealing stuff. I am not saying it does not happen but it is very very rare. It would be matter of days maybe weeks at worst before they were found out that they were stealing parcels, like i said if you ask HDNL or amazon to ask the driver for the location they left it they will do so,, the driver may even revisit your house to speak to you as he will get a mark on his file if its misssing, also ask them to check the geo location scan. It could have been left at anther address by mistake.....

hdnl are a joke. i went to collect aparcel from there and their responce was "its here somewhere but we dont know where"
ok i said can you phone me when you find it so i can come up or you can redeliver

Their`s no excuse for not leaving a card with the customer to tell them that you have left the parcel at a different address if thats the case, customers are not psychic. Like i said above, i just can`t believe that HDNL allow drivers to leave parcels without a signature regardless of what service has been paid for by the sender, your asking for trouble with that system.

It really is swings and roundabouts some customers are angry because the items that are being delivered require a signature or the driver does not think its safe to leave it, then the customer goes off on one saying "why can it not be left in my shed/greenhouse/porch etc i don't want to have to stay at home all day waiting" then another customer will say "why on earth was this left in my shed/greehouse porch it could have been stolen!, the driver should have taken it back to the depot and brought back another day when i was home"
Like I said above every parcel scan leaves a digital trail, the drivers do have to leave cards (which are also scanned) and if they are not following this procedure its easy to check and they will be out of a job.

It depends on what service amazon sent the item on but regardless of the service the drivers still need to get a minimum of 80% of parcels signed for.
The mystery of people not getting cards is one that continues to baffle the parcel and delivery industry, i talk to our HDNL guy every day and he always puts a card through if no ones home and still customers will swear blind that they never had one yet he knows he put one in the letterbox and the HDNL system logs his location when he scanned the card outside there house yet s they still don't get it????

Simple answer to the second point. Most recipients are full of **** when they say they haven't had a card.
And got about 3 signatures for the whole lot.

Just had an apology pack from royal mail,
My delivery from play.com was unfortunately damaged
Funny how its failed on both glued seams lol, and the game i ordered is clearly visible lol
luckily the seals are intact, so the game is still in its box..
mind you it could be in a billion pieces... they did say to ring them for compo
