Having said that my 530d has never had problems it has a bluddy problem!!
Self-levelling warning light won't go off!! Could just be electrics though as the battery has been repeatedly low the last couple of weeks.

Yes Sapphire Black, it's a very nice colour when clean.
Rookymatt and i should be meeting up tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what he thinks.
DrB5, very nice, I've always thought the X5 is the best looking 4x4

That is sapphire black.
Ding, in the last pic you posted, just below the v10 badge, you can see a large 19mm bolt with two lines going horizontally away from it??
This is where your "other" mechanic should have fixed a gauge to measure the supply oil pressure to you vanos units!
I'll explain in greater detail to you tommorrow mate

Ding, report back tomorrow how this internet dating works will you?
That is, unless you're tied up and gagged somewhere and 'Rookymatt' and his big burly mates are driving around in your M5. Innit.

I presume you've thought about this and put it aside, as a no-go area?

Cheers Ding. I'm enjoying it, but our 530D E60 was a superior car in so many ways.

Well Matt came around today, and despite what you weirdos think no gheyer activities took place. Actually I think you scared the poor boy so much he brought his lovely girlfriend with him for protection
Anyway he thinks it is the Vanos system. So this will cost me
1) £3000+ from BMW
2) £1300- £1700 from a specialist depending on whether the pump needs to be replaced or not
As mentioned before the car will need some tyres and a minor service at some point soon as well.
I think I'm going to confirm the order on the 535d MS and then swap over to the M5 in 2013 if I'm still into fast cars.
Btw, Matt really knows his stuff. If anybody here drives a BMW and lives in London, he is a very useful and knowledgeable friend to have. I'll definitely be keeping in touch with him
