Neighbour playing silly bu99ers - Long story - Sorry

I would definitely have a word with the husband. The stealing of the watering cans and stuff could also point towards dementia. At the care home my mum is in, they say it's best not to take in anything moveable, as residents tend to wander into other rooms and take stuff, thinking it's theirs.

I would be thinking the above.
Personally, I would do as you said and make bridges with the fella, be a good human being.
If you take any form of drastic action, you may feel really bad if she is taken into care etc
I wouldn't drag the bloke into this either, poor ****er has to live with her and may already know their is a problem, he may have been married to her 20,30+ years but doesn't want to lose her, love will do funny things to a sane man.

She sounds like the sort of person who will just get worse if you actively try to prevent her from doing all those things.
I agree with Dedrator, the best way may be to try to make friends with her, just say you are sorry things have developed in the wrong direction and that you would much prefer things to be on a friendly basis. Maybe even ask them both round for a quiet chat in order to solve any possible outstanding problems but putting your point of view forward in a diplomatic but firm manner.
It might just work, you might even become friends!
Its surprising how things can go through a complete change if you get it just right.

I'm not by any stretch of the imagination professionally qualified to comment, but experience tells me there are definite signs of substance/alcohol abuse and/or mental health issues here, so if you're going to have discrete words with the offender's husband, it would probably be worth trying to bring this up. He has to live with the woman, after all, so he has a vested interest in facing up to the reality of what's going on.
Otherwise, document every incident and CCTV all the way. At the end of the day, any proof you get of this person's barmy behaviour can also be used to make sure they get the help they almost certainly need.

3am roundup(brand of weed killer) the old birds entire garden , lawn plants shrubs everything will be brown in a few days , thats just for starters councilors and ponces like that generally love themselves and think normal people are beneeth them . a photo of the site would be good to allow us to be more creative with our ideas, a few stink bombs in her bin might be good revenge for moving yours , another old favorite is gloves and smear cat**** under her cars door handle , making sure you are around to enjoy the moment, there are loads of ways of dealing with people like this and i doubt her husband has the ***** to stick up to her so dont rely on him as a solution to the problem

Wow corradoboy you are really a man of restraint and that has to be respected. This woman sounds unbalanced, maybe slowly becoming mentally ill.
Still she crossed a line when she raised a hand to your pregnant wife, and you should not tolerate that even if she has to suffer a night in the slammer when she is not well etc.
The right thing is to look after your wife kids here, not her health.

Well, copped for the hubby this morning as he returned from his dog walking, and he made it quite clear he's not up for discussing the situation as reasonable, grown adults

Neighbour problems can be the worst sort as there's not way you can distance yourself from it. You need to find some way of resolving this soon for all your sakes. Good luck

Let this be a lesson to us all as well. Never ever buy a property with any sort of shared access. It nearly always seems to end up with some kind of dispute

also i advise a sign saying you have cctv installed otherwise any footage used is not classed as able to be used in court as its to do with invasion of privacy laws etc and permission to film people. You can check this out fully yourself by googling etc.

He is seriously hen-pecked and spineless, and yet obstinate, like you'd expect a councillor. I got the impression he is either aggrieved at the level we took it to, has been told by her not to speak to us and is in fear in his private life, or worried that things are getting out of hand to the point where his career could be jeopardised and he wants to try and let the waters settle.
CCTV will be installed within a week, a diary of events is started, the local plod have advised we seek legal advice and I am already drafting a letter to the paper. I am going to ask him once more for an informal peace summit, but after that it goes formal only !
