Football played over 9 time zones, interesting
Qatar 40-45 degrees during June/July, what will the temperature be in a stadium.
England will never host a World Cup again IMO, not while it's which country likes us and which country doesn't. As soon as we win Eurovision we will know to bid

FIFA must be one of the shadiest organisations around.
While the voting is done behind closed doors and no accountability given, rumours of corruption, bribery and bungs is bound to flourish - which makes you wonder why, if they are not corrupt as they say, does the whole process not have more transparency, to avoid such rumours?
Unless of course they really are, in which case we are better off without it.

Blatently obvious Fifa have had some massive back handers from Russia and Qatar.
If the panel included Sebb Blater have not had massive bungs I will run naked around Old Trafford wearing a City scarf.

Plus the insane summer temperatures also, rock hard pitches.
Just strikes of FIFA's doctrine of spreading the game, even if to the detriment of the actual occasion.
...and Russia. OMG it's an awful brutal crime ridden dump. Transport is teribble also.
FIFA = joke.

Yeah I agree, Qatar getting the WC is utterly absurd, they have 1.5 million people and the domestic league is worse than our Conferance, they cannot sustain a 10 stadium infrastrucre in any genuine way.

It will be dreadul is why.
Even if they chuck a load of cash at it (which they will), it will lack genuine passion, and the je ne sais qua which comes from having tournaments in real football countries - which are steeped in the game - and have real clubs and real fans.
You just end up with something artifical full of silent plastic fans wearing Man United shirts.
If you don't have a strong domestic league you should not get the world cup basically.

Disappointing news
Still we have the Olympics, Cricket and Rugby World Cups coming up, so it's not like we're short of big sporting events this decade
The Qatari decision is just bizarre, no fans, no legacy and big security issues
I do think our media have some serious question to answer though

I do get the decisions, to be fair. Ramp up the sport's profile in Russia, break in, big-time, to the Arab market. A shame for real football fans, but the right move for FIFA plc.

I quite like their 'fair play' approach to hooliganism. No cocking about with knives and running back and forth like gheyers; just a good old-fashioned dust up, toe to toe. The ******* even shake hands afterwards!

As for hard pitches, dont you think they will have thought of it? The grass will be watered from below, and the stadia will most likely be air conditioned. You wait and see (quite a whiole, granted)
I would have thought the WC in Qatar would be better than the Russian WC.

Have you been there? They will knock up all the required stadia in close proximity to the others, and those stadia will be the best in the world. These guys dont fvck around when it comes to money.
