Spot on, C. As usual. That bus driver was being an utter twonk. Must have been in a hurry for his tea, like TX ![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
I do not hang about, usually, but when black ice is about, loads of snow and I have my offspring in the car, I take it canny.
If folks don't like that, tough. Tailgating is like bullying on the roads. It's pathetic. If anything, it makes me go slower, just to wind them up.
I am never in that much of a hurry for a slower, cautious winter driver to wind me up to the point of sitting on their butt in the hope they would get a move on

just to put it into perspective, you are stuck behind someone for 5miles doing 50, you want to go 60, the difference in arrival time is just 1 minute, not worth the burst blood vessel really.

^^ Are you one of those who drive slowly just for the perverse pleasure of seeing a 20 mile queue form behind you?

No, a big part of my job is driving a liveried vehicle, i drive at around the speed limit if the road permits, so wouldn't drive in a way that would get me in trouble with my employer ( i wouldn't drive like a **** in my car either though)..... but is that what you actually think? that people drive slowly to get a kick out of causing tailbacks? just to antagonise? fkin ell mate, leave a gap and chill the **** out, you might just live longer.

I wouldt waste your time reporting him. An arriva bus went into the back of me at 50mph without putting on his brakes on a sunnday day, straight road while I was parked stationary in traffic. Took out 2 other cars in front of me.
Police warned him, no points, no fine and said if he "does it again" he'll be prosecuted. He caused around £40,000 of damage and I barely got away with my life.
Police dont want to know nothing.
Funnily enough, the car was wrote off, my missus then saw it two days ago (same number plate, colour, everything) looking like new. I thought that cant be right, rang the police, they didnt even want the number plate, coming back with "if a garage bought it to sell on, from the insurance company they must have repaired it correctly". The thing was a twisted wreck, chassis was knackered, roof was twisted, but its back on the road. I pity the family who are in that thing if it has another knock. It'll just crumple.
If you do let the police know, just be prepared you might not get the answer you are looking for.

I'd report him.
Depending on what you might want to happen to him...report just to his employers and he gets a warning. Report it to the police and his employers might be forced to take more action.
Don't be put off by any police stories. It'll be different wherever you go.
Me personally....S3 for careless driving.
Sometimes people in a bump are happy to exchange details and let the insurance sort it out. If the outcome isn't what you want, make a complaint.

Have spoken to the bus company, this morning. I've not contacted the Police, not really worth it.
The bus company have taken it very seriously, or so they say. I gave all the details, reg number, time etc and they have taken my details too.
They said they would check on the cctv, which I am pleased about, as hopefully that will show just how close he was to my car.
We shall see. Thanks for the support, much appreciated

It annoys me when buses think just because they are totally flat at the front, it means they have license to be almost touching the car in front!
Glad they took your call seriously though

I did feel something needed to be said as the next person he decides to bully might not be so lucky!

Extremely unfair and dangerous driving. I find one defence is to slow right down until they get the message that tailgating is not acceptable. Flashing the rear foglight sometimes works too.
I would certainly report. He might cause damage or injury to the next person.

I nearly got shunted up the **** yesterday by some tit in a mpv, he was sat up my **** when i knew there was a bit of road coming up that is completley covered in ice so i slowed down and he nearly didn't. Had my two young sons in the car as well which wound me up even more.
Anyway glad to hear your reporting the driver as the buses seem to feel they have more of a right more then ever at the minute.

Definatley worth reporting, the bus company will take it seriously as it's thier reputation.
Such a stupid thing to do, more so in this weather! If you had to brake he would of been straight in the back of you.
When people tail gate me I really have to stop myself getting angry, 9 times out of 10 I find myself pulling over to let them past, it's just not worth it.
I usually drive at the 'speed limit' but I would argue if I was'nt, I was driving at the speed the road allows.

+1 for report. He is a vocational licence holder, so its reasonable to expect greater care and a higher standard of driving from him.

Just forget about it, last week in the bad snow I had a bus turn right in front of me when the lights were on green for me to drive and the gap he pulled into wasn't even big enough if it was good weather. I braked as best as I could and left the horn on for about 10 seconds but I doubt it made any difference. I think because the highway code says give way to buses it makes them think they have the right to cut anyone up as I have lost count on the amount of times they have done it to me.

The funny thing is these bus drivers dont tihnk it's so clever when someone jumps out their car and are trying to peel the bus doors open! They act like they own the road lol
