What a fantastic adventure
ScoTTyB there are no polar bears in the Antarctic, only the Arctic and I guess they wouldn't hang about at the Pole itself, not enough food

Looks like you had a good time out there Ray, once in a lifetime type trip, would love to do something like that myself, one of the last unexplored land regions of the world.

Well done Ray
What were the best and worst moments of the jaunt?
If you get withdrawal symptoms there are a few places in the UK at -15 although that may be a bit hot for you

Sorry about delay in the reply, just settling back into grey old UK.
Best moment, the drive down the Levertt Glacier, i was woken from my slumbers at the top of this with the words " every bodies got to see this" so we did, We followed a very narrow route that the US team had marked on there way up a week earlier, the journey down apart from the outstanding sights was the extreams one moment we were in brilliant clear weather and within seconds all the screens would ice up and 3 people would be needed to keep on the track and minutes later summer day again, at one point the coms was knocked off so we wondered why it had gone quite from the other truck, until we saw them coming through the "ice cloud" towards us, they had misplace there screen scraper so had been using credit cards etc to clear the screen!! We have calculated that with us only about 60 people have see the Leverett first hand, Vern our Guide had been on the original survey back in the 90's so it was like coming home for him.
The worst, Wag bag loo , system is good but you have to remember to open the bag while your in the warm so its ready to go, as things get a bit nippy very fast if you can't find a sheltered spot , the luxury was to have it set up in a tent or the very least on a 2-3 hour stop dig a hole to make a wind break (no pun intended).
Just finishing of my heart monitoring experiment, the post expedition part. Just trying to get my head round going back in to the office next week!! As 2 months away does put things in a slightly different light.

You have my full admiration for those achievements Ray, you must be feeling a bit proud yourself.
I enjoyed watching the ice landing. That happened to me once at Goose Bay when the entire runway was covered in black ice and they did not bother to tell me. Lucky its a long runway, it took the whole of it to stop. Its a bit exciting when you put the brakes on and all 16 main wheels lock up. If I had known I could have done a short landing with full aerodynamic braking, but it was a bit too late when I found out! They were good enough to apologise when I mentioned it!

Take off was pretty quick, as 25 people on board plus lots of empty fuel drums, so a very light load, I have got the video of the take off on the day we flew in, but hav'nt uploaded it yet. I was very suprised how fast it got off the ground. Our team camera man was allowed to film our landing from the obs bubble, but he is still in south america so I hav'nt seen that footage yet.
