Wow H&S reputation is taking some serious damage here, not their products im sure most are good fits, but the way they do their buisness is not clean.. and will put me waaaay of from having anything to do with them
It seems to me like this is the way they do "business" which in my book is conning ppl, you get the feeling here that H&S knowingly send him a trainee job that was put on a shelf somewhere until an uportunity like this came along, and they send it abroad knowing they could get away with it, it would be naive to think that H&S havent send goods abroad before with the same result, they end up paying nothing because they tricked the buyer to return it, and as i read they continued to reject that their product was ok, when it clearly wasnt, how many manifolds have they made and sold over the years, quite alot i would imagine.. even i can see that its off, where is the product control of this, unprofessional service in the first place, as i said above this smells like we'll send this trainee job to the fool in Denmark
H&S were well aware of this from the begining, and they certaintly do know rules and regulations also when it comes to shipping abroad
That is seriously bad tainted buisness conduct..
And yes im from Denmark too, not that i know Sethright personally, i dont

Parcel went missing in Heathrow so didnt make it to H&S, so H&S dont have to pay for the p&p because it never made it to them, if anything the OP should now be proceeding with a small claims against the courier, but no.
He never mentioned the 500 quid until H&S posted it, and there are plenty more issues with the OP sending the item back, in the UK they ask what the value of the parcel is for insurance, if they dont do that in Denmark then it should have been down to the OP to find out as he agreed to send the parcel back to H&S (which is a common practice) and be refunded the cost.
Im not saying H&S were perfect, but they did ask for the part back to see where it went wrong, and due to the cost of the item they dont have to refund until its been dispatched.
TBH you do feel a little sorry for the OP, but then he goes on a rant over a YEAR later, sorry to say that doesnt get any votes from me when you make a mistake that leaves yourself out of pocket by not insuring correctly.
H&S have to fix or replace that part, but it requires the original part back.

Just read the full thread (and looked at the pictures in the attached thread) and I have to say I would not buy anything from H&S on the balance of the evidence here, and I suspect that most other people who have not dealt with them before will take the same view. How many of the comments on here supporting H&S are from people who have had prior dealings with them.
In the end, H&S sent what any reasonable person would view as a faulty part (and the pedants on here who insist it wasn't "faulty" are showing their bias), the OP has pretty convincing photographic proof it was faulty and has made a good faith attempt to return it. As far as I can see H&S are guilty of using the unfortunate circumstances of the item being lost to duck their responsibilities under the distance selling regulations, and while the law may technically be on their side, unbiased consumer opinion almost certainly won't be.
H&S are not losing money here because the item got lost - even if the item reached them it is scrap anyway. They would lose out on postage costs, but they lost that the moment they allowed faulty goods to leave their premises.
The fact that H&S offered £500 and then have withdrawn that offer because the OP had the cheek to consider is other options shows massive distain for their customers.
My advice to H&S would be to come to some arrangement with the OP, otherwise you may find business from new customers drying up.

I'll second that.
Unlike some on here who have suggested there was some kind of intent by H&S to 'cheat' the buyer, to me this appears to be an honest sale gone bad because goods not fit for purpose fell through the quality control net. This happens sometimes, however the problem was compounded by the fact that the buyer is overseas and the goods have subsequently never been returned.
Foolish or not, the buyer attempted to return the goods in good faith.
Should that automatically exclude him from any rights as regards the original problems with the product. Not in my eyes, and too many of the posters on here are fixating on the under-insured postage.
The goods were faulty and as Scud8 has said would (bar the cat) probably have been scrapped anyway.
£1000 is to Setright no doubt a lot more money than it is to H&S.

So H&S seem to be correct in their response, legally. But have they never heard of a good-will gesture?
If they had been more accommodating in the first place, then this thread wouldn't have happened - and most people reading it wouldn't now choose to use a different supplier instead!
Looks like the argument will go on forever here tbh. People never agree on the internet

Ok folks - this one has run out of mileage I think. The OP has raised an issue, H&S have responded, people have added their tuppence worth and now things are just degenerating into rather unhelpful comments and inferences about the situation that cannot be substantiated and verge on libelous!
