Alan,
If it's a full rupture then it has to be surgically repaired, it cannot be healed by plaster/physio etc. When it ruptures the two ends spring apart with a huge gap between them, there is no physical way they can come back together without surgical intervention.

All depends where the tendon has ruptured.
Good news anyway Jacko.

You're wrong mate, mine wasn't operated on, had a cast on for 4 weeks with my foot pointed, cast removed then another one on with my foot pointed a little less for 3 weeks. Then finally another cast with my foot in the flat position.

Well, thankfully its just strained ligaments, sprained ankle or whatever, Xray diddnt show any fractuures or anything, the Nurse Practitioner just said take copious ammount of Paracetemol and Ibuprofen in combination, take it easy but not too easy, i.e. use it, should be sorted in a week.

My Mrs is the same mate. Last time I was really ill with stomach pains she fecked off to a BBQ telling everybody I was a mardy barstad. It turned out had a burst appendix and peritonitis, I ended up in ICU for a month having chunks of my guts removed.
I don't let her forget that one.
