Here's a few seeing as you asked :
  • A "Traders Only" area - as used on MLR to good effect.

  • Better vetting of traders to stop it becoming a haven for tax dodgers (again, look at MLR).

  • iTrader Feedback, it's a very good system to help sort the good from the bad, but it needs simplifying to make it easier for people to leave feedback for one another, it's a bit of a headache at the moment with silly required fields such as "deal URL".

A lot of people have had bad experiences but why drag stuff out even more if it was jusy a one off?? In my experiene no one rembembers any good things you do they just remember the bad things so why slate someone for a few bad errors! I have been in the same boat as you but still think its better to be nice??

have you had too much to drink steve or are you just in the festive spirit
i'm not talking of any one in perticular, but if a said company gives very good service and quality workmanship then they should be praised for it,then others can go there and recieve the same service.but if a said company is getting more than just the odd bad report then there is obviously a problem with there work and people should know about it so that others can then avoid.after all its not just a few quid we spend on these cars, its thousands.we need somewere we can talk about what has gone wrong, how it has gone wrong, and what the said company did to rectify the problem.without it getting out of hand and being deleted.

It would be nice to improve the search facility and make it more visible to new members. I find it really annoying when the same Q's are asked over and over and it may also be a good idea to have a new members area where they can meet and greet and have posts with common faults, cures and quick fixes, the normal info asked about how to maintain etc.

Would be nice to not see the site cluttered with the same posts.

You could always just ignore them Freedom of speech needs to be maintained too.

Sorry, but I agree with him. There is freedom of speech and there is racism and some posts on this site in recent months are walking a very thin line between the two. If I was a Muslim I would not feel very welcome here sometimes although it has been better in the last few weeks in that respect to be fair.

Just saying it as I see it and putting it here as it is something I feel the mods need to keep an eye on in future if they can.

Think an 'ecu' section in the technical section would be a good idea

It would be great if we could have a notes folder where all the useful threads to members could be saved for future refrences. This would be implemented in the User CP section.

Some other forums people gain repuation points for being particularly helpful/knowledgable etc.
So often we get new guys/gals asking the same old questions. Maybe if they see replies from repuatable members it may make life easier for them.
Ive seen tuners give very good valid answers to issues and people still asking about because they dont know who the replies are coming from.

Just an idea?

I know the for sale section has been mentioned but it's ry hard to sell anything with members bumping their threads every three hours or so:

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...ml#post9798401

Fair enough if there is new info or a price change but all the BTT is rediculous!

Sorry I meant every three............. poxy..........minutes!

Seperate for sale sections for classic and newage parts. Always lots of confusion.

Could be solved by a complusory thread start with either classic/newage/hatch

OR

have a simple for sale template for parts so people HAVE to fill in certain fields, ie year/model car, condition, postcode ie RM11 *** just so people get an idea of where the person is (as people use the location field as a place for a slogan or something) also contact number etc.

Might help clamp down on dodgy sales

Id like the consultation period to continue to at least a second stage, so that we can have an input on your collected proposals; but first Id like PF and SN closely compared in an attempt to get to the bottom of the sites terrible performance under IB.

Question

I forgot my Piston Heads logging info. Re-registered today and got this message.

Hi *************

Whilst we're certain that your intentions are entirely honourable, some people come onto PistonHeads just to cause trouble for other users.

For this reason, we're giving you 14 days to read what other people post and learn about how we like our users to behave before we let you dive into the murky world of The Lounge and Speed, Plod & the Law.

You're more than welcome to join in with some of our other forums though, and we'll sometimes even give you access here sooner if we see you contributing quality on-topic posts elsewhere.

Now this would put pay to sales spam and a lot of tit for tat and new names being registered to troll or attack others in those heat of the moment exchanges.

14 days seems excessive 5-7 days would to it and sort out the real enthusiasts from the trolls and troublemakers - to a greater extent and with little or no extra work.

Most questions re scoobs have been asked before so it would get newbies to use the search and look around rather that the same old stuff being posted each and every day.

You could let newbie paid up members access and post straight away adding another benefit, but still not an attractive option to the trolls or spammers.

Looks like a win-win!

Seconded - sounds a good move.

Not sure about preventing any BTTTs in private sales. Otherwise sellers will have to re-advertise every day or two as ads quickly exit the first page. Maybe a max number of 5 bumps?

One bump a day would suffice for me;

I mean the example above in Chris 9-5's post of 5 bumps/BTTs in the same day is really taking the mick.

As Stu mentioned there are going to be some reorganisation of the sales section, and that possibly include the actual methods the adverts are created and displayed. I'd cetainly be looking at preventing constant use of BTTs from people trying to keep their advert on page one. Which has been an issue on SN since the day I joined and why I never bothered buying/selling anything on here - pistonheads was better/easier.

If I Remember correctly, we are on the same server mate.

Id like the consultation period to continue to at least a second stage, so that we can have an input on your collected proposals; but first Id like PF and SN closely compared in an attempt to get to the bottom of the sites terrible performance under IB.
I am taking this to mean PF is considerably faster than SN for you? It certainly isnt for me. Maybe a little, but nothing of any real interest.
