I have nothing against tdw. He would have more credibility though if almost EVERY topic he has EVER started was not about Muslims.
It just makes him seem one sided and quite shallow. His ridiculous topic about a brown skinned taxi driver over charging him and then his conclusion that all Pakistanis are not to be trusted was frankly racist, offensive and above all childish.
He seems to have arrived from nowhere and then made it his mission in life to post endless topics almost 100% dedicated to Muslims. That just seems odd and so to me that makes him at the very least a troll.
If he from time to time posted about other things I would think he was a more balanced individual with a normal life. However because of his obsession with Muslims I feel he has an agenda, so as I said that makes him at least a Troll.
If all he wants to talk about is Muslims then why not join a forum dedicated to theological discussion? Don't forget he has never owned a Scoob so that does make you wonder why he even joined this site in the first place.
Anyway like all trolls I'm sure he is loving all the attention this thread has brought him. He is probably sitting in front of his PC whacking one out right now.

Can't say I have taken that much notice of him, so not really in a position to comment.
Interesting thread, though

He isn't offensive though, well not what i've seen of his posts so having an opinion that differs to others isn't worthy of a witch hunt. No matter how people disagree with him getting offensive with him isn't the way to debate is it? Asifscoob seems to be the worst for that. Argue your point fine but start calling him stupid/idiot and worse etc is not how to debate, that is just losing your side of the argument. If someone isn't offensive then their is no reason to go in with offensive counter arguments.
I was not intending to post on this thread, as I consider it to be feeding the troll, but at 3 pages or so it seems to have gone past that point.
I read a number of posts from TDW, which I personally considered to be ignorant and offensive, all about Muslims. I responded to these in a very reasonable manner. Tonys first reaction to me was to call me an "idiot", "dumb", etc., simply because I challenged him. I let this go for a while while continuing to reason and attempting to debate with him.
After a while I just thought, "Sod this, change of tack required". TDWs method is to aggressively attack and accuse you of things, dismissing what you say with a wave of his hand while demanding that his questions be answered. I did answer his questions and posed ones of my own, part of what I consider to be, 'debate'.
He just ignores any point you have to make and carries on in the same tone as before. Choosing to call him names just highlighted to me how oblivious he is to how he is perceived, set against his far greater need for attention, in this case by causing as much controversy as possible.
That is why I since decided to ignore him and I think proved myself right (in my own mind anyway). He has tried to goad me four times on the Pilger thread into responding to him and picking up where we left off, but I won't.
I have tackled some very challenging people and issues on SN over the years, but initially always treat people how I expect to be treated, but failing that, will respond how I see fit. I know you have done the same from time to time.
Whether it is the right way or not, I don't know. It is my way however and I have more 'friends' on here than 'enemies' (which matters to me to some small extent at least). Not something TDW can honestly say about himself.

Asif then I apologise as i'd missed his initial comments that you mention. I know his points can be somewhat off topic in reply to questions and I don't agree with pretty much anything he has posted (i'm anti Israel for starters) I just thought he'd handled fairly well the number of people trying to take him down. It appears I gave him too much credit although this thread I still feel is unnecessary as it is nothing more than a mass slagging.
Moses posted a lot of stuff I didn't agree with but me and him got on alright via pm and stuff and despite his posting style not being to everyone's taste he certainly created a lot of traffic for this site especially in CWE and getting a few members hot under the collar with rage was amusing.

The problem with Tony is that he is accustomed to the tools of debate and uses them to subvert the debate. He has no interest in debating properly. If you bring up any point in a debate he either:
1. "Strawman"s it - i.e. rephrases your point to say something you didn't mean then refutes his interpretation of it.
2. Resorts to ad hominem - i.e. tries to render your argument invalid by attacking you, yourself - for example, miscontruing your meaning (intentionally) then characterising you as a ****, or a racist, or some other bogeyman.
3. Just ignores it.
Then when you refute his points properly, with references and evidence, he ignores what you have put then falsely accuses you of "strawmanning" "ad hominem" and "appeal to authority". His understanding and use of these terms shows that he is more than familiar with the technical terms of debate and this overwhelmingly demonstrates to me that he is not interested in reasoned debate, even though he is capable of it in principle and shows deep knowledge in certain subjects. He plays Scoobynet like a rather crap, out-of-tune violin, by harping upon the subjects that he knows are emotive and that appeal to the reactionary element. That is my definition of a troll, I'm afraid.

I'm asbolutely astonished that the mods have let this run so long. An entire thread devoted to picking apart the character of another member strikes me as falling perfectly within the definition of "Harassing, intimidating, stalking or threatening other community members" in the Site Terms, so I can't think of a single good reason why it or another one like it should be left to stand.

What's the story? Since when did it become acceptable to single out and target other members like this?

Agree with you on Moses, I myself was a fan. He never helped himself though and eventually did allow himself to be banned, as of course he had his own buttons that could be pressed.
Cheers.

It's not Human nature to "let the teacher sort it out". Sometimes people's backs are up and they need to vent their spleen. If he wasn't such an obvious wind-up merchant then the accusations of unfair targeting might have some validity. As it is, I'm sure T de W is just a drone account intended to stir up controversy, so doesn't qualify for protection under the site's T&Cs.

Point was I was there - he wasn't. Unless he was the person I had nicked. At which he would be admitting to being a petty criminal. And I don't think he'd want to do that.
Although if he spouted his online persona's views in public, I could see him getting picked up for a hate crime, simply as people find him offensive.

I find Muslim extremists mouthing off in the street offensive but they don't get picked up for hate crimes? So how come they can get away with it? Yet you mouth off against them you can get done for hate crimes?
Oops there we go again, attacking the old Muslims on SN... Perhaps there needs to be a one rule for all instead of one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.

You seem determined to stick up for him which is up to you, but as you can see there are a few of us who feel he oversteps the mark. It isn't so much what he says, but the way he says it... and sometimes his posts have a nasty undertone towards certain factions of society and consequently some posters on here.
Maybe you should put yourself in their shoes and see how the view of your pal seems from there!!!

You need to wind your neck in, old chap. I'm not in control of who is or isn't allowed to post on here. I'm merely defending the right of the general SN poster to say what they like about this divot without reprisal from some misguided "championer of rights". I'm using my intelligence and experience to judge what is a "drone account" and if you don't have the astuteness to judge with the same skill as I do then that is not my problem.
