Eggs in one basket.
A long time I have said that having so much air travel through one airport is a very very bad idea; as there is little or no contingency barring closure and cancellation.
Hence why we need more proper international airports, and less expansions of existing ones.

Just been chatting to a friend at an airline who will remain nameless, mentioned that their flight was going but BAA closed the doors of the terminal and said no one else allowed in (H&S I would imagine) the airline involved advised they had passengers they wanted to get away and were told the doors stay shut, staff had to go out a side door and call out passengers names and did their best to get those they found away.
FM, whats the deal with the de icers, having spoken to a few people from various airlines they're saying de icing is subbed out and you call them in as required with BA getting priority over everyone else, as they allegedly pay more, how many de icing units has LHR got ?

We de-ice the airfield. The airlines re responsible for de-icing their aircraft.

There has been a bit of a **** up on the snow clearing front, however, don't forget that this is the UK, so we're not used to such a large volume of snow, and so aren't prepared for it. I reckon last years storms were written off as a bit of a freak, but now it's happened two years in a row, perhaps they'll see it could be normal and should be better prepared.

Anyone travelling Bmi at least 2 3rds of flights operating tomorrow.
Contingency plan for the next time it happens, get all the staff in for 5 or 6 pints each and they can p1ss on the snow and ice to melt it

My understanding is such that you can be dismissed for being 'unable to fulfil contractural obligations' - regardless of fault as this is a personal injury thing then (as I was due to RSI and tenosynovitis). But then you can put in a personal injury claim with regards lost earnings, future loss of earnings etc.
Please do tell if your explanation is different to the above, as after being dismissed for the very reasons above I became quite interested in employment law.

Yes you can claim Loss of earnings, BUT this is NOT an automatic right, you have to fight your way through the legal courts, IF YOU DONT SUBMIT AN ACCURATE STATEMENT SUPPORTED BY COMPLETELY INDEPENDANT WITNESSES (can you honestly say your fellow employees are going to make good witnesses baring in mind that THEY will be subject to management bullying afterwards??) which can take years at the best of times you wont win.ACAS has been biased (instructed???) towards the employer,(ALL UNIONS WILL AGREE), and civil courts are reluctant to get involved in employee disputes.EG.A bloke at my company who broke his leg at work, due to complications and numerous operations on said injury, the company has decided to sack him leaving him with a mortgage, wife and two kids to pay for.The tax payer now has to pay for this at approx £79 pw.the fella is now gonna lose his house coz the bank will NOT wait the 3+years till the insurance/company pay out (insurance companies rarely pay out for an injury that has NOT COMPLETLEY HEALED, unless your desperate and need the money, SO YOU AGREE AT A REDUCED COMPENSATION). You still insisting that there should be LESS ELF n SAFETY at work.

Are you daft enough to stick YOUR neck for your company knowing that the system is against you (e.g your manager says go unload that vehicle, without the training or the equipment to do so safely, and you WILL NOT be entitled to full pay while off sick,so from day one your gonna get £79 a week ) if the answer is yes, I'm guessing your a boss or your just a dumb sh*t working class who doesn't know any better! I dont think there are enough Elf n Safety rules, I'm not gonna risk hurting mi self just so I can earn minimum wage.

Where did I say about less health & safety in my reply to you? And your post has simply just been a long winded version of what I explained, albeit harder to understand. ![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
I won't go into the details of my legal case against my former employers but I went from £1400 a month to £49.50 a week dole with a mortgage to pay so I know the situation.
