It will not be a green on Tony (My92>96 iirc). Purple or orange me thinks.

Ok a brief history from the start, I bought the car about 9 months ago with the forge dump valve and just a aftermarket backbox, within the first 6 months I changed the exhaust system for a 200 cell decat downpipe and scorpion 2.5" decat cat back, then about a month ago I decided I'd change the intake side of things and bought a hks mushroom filter and fitted that, that's all Iv done to it and to answer your question for definate, yes the car was running tip top untill last night, many thanks, Dan.

I have all the std MY99 airbox stuff, wing feed, etc. available (inc a decent young panel filter). Plus the OEM recirc DV (and STi v.5 TMIC), too!

If you need anything......

The latest ones have a green stripe on them to show they are the uprated ones

Good job, no problems there.

As you have probably worked out by now, not such a good job.
Unless you are running a front mount inter cooler (fmic) and going for 380+bhp then the OE air intake system is very capable, just slip a KnN or Green in it. By fitting the cone/mushroom you will draw in warmer less dense air from the engine bay, which as i mentioned earlier will reduce bhp as the turbo engine runs on and requires cold/dense air.

So get the engine back to tip top, this may now, as Tony has said, involve a new MAF!! You may just have learned the hard/expensive way.

Post up in this thread what results you have tomorrow after refitting.

As i said earlier, this forum is an excellent resource. Make good use of the search facility as most things have already been covered. If you are unsure after searching and reading then start a thread to discuss your intended modifications with us. Some of the users on here are unbelievably knowledgeable to the point of amazement. You will learn what you need, believe me.

Yep. The "green stripe/post 2006" manufactured ones are more robust than the original "green dot/pre 2006" ones. Many a specialist say they hardly experience problems with this MAF.

Well I consider myself enlightened lol, I guess the moral of the story is to give all the neccessary info in the first place and the answer I was originally looking for is that my MAF might be nackered if changing the airbox back doesn't cure it, thanks for all your inputs and advice guys, and Joz you have a pm about the parts Dan.

I've not spoken to him for some time now. His detailed and concise input is missed by me for one.

Dno, he went to work away for a week, came back for a few posts then vanished again.
I have PM'd him as we had some thing in the pipeline but have had no reply, which is not like him in my experience.
