Your score: 7
0 - 10 = low
11 - 22 = average (most women score about 15 and most men score about 17)
23 - 31 = above average
32 - 50 is very high (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 35)
50 is maximum
Much lower than expected considering how interested I am in how things work, never mind how I've always found "logical" subjects at school simple, i.e. Maths and Physics.
Maybe it's the Finnish psyche acting up and skewing the results? :P

Slightly above average for me. I think it's because I'm a bit introverted and shy as someone mentioned earlier. Weirdly, though, I'm driven to do extrovert things like playing in bands or making/painting/building things then showing them off to attract praise.

What's the Asperger's "look", pray? I have an Asperger's nephew, my work colleague's eldest son is Asperger's and I know Tel reasonably well, having met him on numerous occasions. I wouldn't have said any of them had what might be described as a common "look". I hope this isn't a subtle attempt at trolling.

Nope, no joke, people with a certain degree of Autism look the same I think you'll agree, so why not Aspergers. Here's a famous sufferer http://www.google.com/images?q=gary+...w=1571&bih=863 and no doubt the reason I ended up reading about looking similar.

I think career choice has kept my score down somewhat. I would have naturally migrated to a technically difficult, ordered career which didn't involve much people contact, but ended up in an unpredictable, multi-tasking, confident public facing role where I have to routinely meet new people and understand their unspoken emotions. However, this is all moving along a spectrum of normal, and arguably I would be more effective in the role I would have chosen naturally.
It would be difficult to be in position where you suffer because of pronounced autistic traits. However, it has been a bit trendy of recent years for people to self diagnose with autistic spectrum disorders. Sometimes they have a point, but often they are just geeks, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Perhaps I answered the question 7 incorrectly about being impolite, but usually people take umbrage when I tell them there is nothing wrong with them, or that their problem is due to eating too much, taking drugs or being lazy/irresponsible. However, not being able to express the true nature of a problem would make me a pretty lousy doctor.

I am not sure I am autistic but I have had various ocd's since I was a child, silly things like checking the every door was looked 5 times or washing my hands 3 times in a row. I had to do these things exactly the right number of times or I would have to start at the beginning.
One time I decided it was time to stop these silly habits and walked to town without checking the doors, 2 miles later I turned around to check the doors

God knows how, but I don't have any habits like that at all now, nothing whatsoever... must have just grown out of it?

Strange. I used to have habits when I was younger that were quite OCD. Had to do certain things before I went to sleep at night or something would happen. The number for me was 6: like I had to look over one shoulder, then the other until it was six times in total (as both sides had to be even in whatever I did). Was the same with various twitches I had, where I would have to do one side of my face 6 times and then the other so it matched... as nuts as that sounds.
I had quite a routine before I could get to sleep at night. ![Freak3](images/smilies/freak3.gif)

One thing is where she will walk into a room, and then back out several times (I don't know the magic number) until she feels comfortable. Then she will walk in completely.
When we were children it was turning the lights on and off X amount of times, as well as touching a pile of soft toys in a certain order.
She once told me she had to do these thongs or I was going to fall down the stairs at home.
She was too young to understand that it wouldn't actually happen, but it still broke my heart to think how much it must control her.

One of my more annoying compulsions was to check the taps were off before bed, it had to be done 5 times, and if I heard someone get up in the night and use the tap I had to check it. Or else I would lie in bed thinking of taps. My Dad had to replace the washers every other month.
