So I bought one. A chat with the manager at the local PC World got me Kinect plus two extra games (Dance and Brain Training) for £150.
So far I'm impressed, it tracks your movements quite closely and the games seem quite fun (for my daughters). Will have a better go tomorrow and report back.

Having played for a couple of hours today I still think it is cool. Certainly a novelty, but fun none the less. I recalibrated it, set up a couple of profiles so when one of us walks in front of the sensor and waves it recognises who and logs you in.
The games are a bit hit and miss. The brain one is quite good if a little easy, dancing is labourious (although my daughters like it) and the free set of mini-games are very simple.
The voice recognition is good, so when playing Sky movies you can say "Xbox Pause" and it does. You get so used to this that when using the normal video player it seems a chore to pick up the controller, switch it on (as it has probably gone to sleep) and then pause the video. I have no idea why Microsoft haven't updated their video player to support Kinect.

We stand 8 foot away from the sensor, if you haven't got room to do that then i'd not bother getting one.
'Sports' is fun, I was playing my mate over Live on it the other night and I ended up thumping the light while throwing the discuss and blowing the fuse!
