Old geezer run up the back of me once. I was surprised when i got a call saying a chap from the insurance company was coming by to view it. I was a youngster at the time so that may have had something to do with it?!

just how many corsa red tops and saxos with 2 16v under the bonnet actually tell the insurance company?

Not many.

maybe if we stopped all insurance in bradford and refused to insure anyone with a past insurance black mark then the normal folks could afford to run insurance.

To most people under 30 insurance is a very expensive piece of paper worth a grand total of **** all cos most peolpe with a fast car are TPFT which means they will get no money from the insurance comapny, insurance is simply to be legal, nothing more!

My missus is looking at 2k to insure a 1.1 206, the car is worth 1.5 k FFS who thinks we should pay 2k to be able to drive it, ripping off *****, thats who!

if inisurance was cheap enough there wouldnt be log book fraud, end of!

So you think insurers should do cheap prices for 19/20 year olds who want an Impreza/2.0 Corsa etc, just so they don't ''do a dodgy''?

Pick up trucks (especially double cabs) have gone up by silly amounts, i can only assume there have been a lot of claims on them.
A 40-50% increase seems common on them now, which baffles me

Obviously not, you dont need that power at 20 years old, you will probably kill yourself, but why does my missus have to pay 500 upfront and then 160 quid a month to drive a 1.1 206, that my freind is complete bollocks and makes me want to clone the car and not insure it (not that i would).

another thing is renewal quotes, my impreza, through you gary, has gone up since the first year you quoted me (when you beat everyone else by miles) and since then its gone up every year not down, why, i have more experience, 5 years protected no claims, no more power mods and the car is worth less every year but you seem to charge me more, its like im being punished for driving an impreza carefully?

Where as the octavia vrs im about to buy has almost the same power as my scoob (its been remapped to 240) is less than half the price insurance wise

Insurance is generally a rip off, you are punished if someone drives into you FFS, id love to know the answer to that, if somwone drives into me why does my insurance take a hit come renewal time?

Why does insurance go on postcodes and blanket them all under one roof, for my octavia i struggled to get quotes from some companies who refused to cover the sk postcode area, are they ******* stupid, i live on the prestbury border ( the richest village in england and by no means a car theft hot spot), 99 percent of cars there live in locked garages up 1/2 mile private driveways but some companies refuse to quotes sk postcodes as they thick prestbury is stockport town centre the think tw@s, why is that, surely thay cant be that thick?

if insurance wasnt a legal issue i wouldnt bother with it, its has cost me 15 grand over the last 10 years and ive got **** all for it!

Insurance is a rip off untill you have to claim.... it then becomes a bargain.

The postcode think is purely down to claim stats, the biggest thing being the frequency of personal injury. If you're in an area of high PI claims you'll be paying extra because it it, as the likelyhood is that if you're involved in an accident it'll be a higher payout.

claim for what, if your TPFT your own car is fcuked if you crash it, your only covering someone elses car!

and i live in a very rural area, id say 90 percent of the crashes round here are into a wall or field on the cat and fiddle or similar road, there are loads of nice roads round here, my point being not into another car, so again fully comp is useless for most under 30's round here.

A question for you, can you tell me what the personal injury claims stats are for sk10 and sk11, specifically macclesfield, prestbury and tytherington, cos i think they are very low, sk11 (sk11 covers nice parts of macc, prestbury, alderley edge and wilmslow) has the most income per head than anywhere else in the north, the average wage is huge and the most houses are over half a million easy so i doubt there are many personal injury claims. No one i know has made one!

I DO know peopel whos insurance company have sent a nice man round after accidents to ask the person who crashed if their neck hurts and if they want to make a claim ( this was my mates sixty three year old mum, and it was a big name insurer)

I could understand if i lived in hulme or moss side, but macc and tytherington, WTF! chalk and cheese!

Make of that what you will!

Oh and why if someone crashes into me does it affect my insurance and i have to declare it?

They crashed into me surely its not my fault so why is it recorded?

It's not the other car they worry about (although repair costs are silly prices as soon as you mention it's going through the insurance) but the injury to the occupents of the vehicle.

We had with one recently where a car rolled into the back of another one in a petrol station at 1-2mph. Not a scratch to either vehicle, but £20k was paid out in personal injury to the occupents of the car that was hit.

I don't have the figures to what PI is claimed where, just a list of excluded and postcodes from different insurers.

Most insurers don't load for non-fault claims, but some still do, and i can't explain why (enless you have 2-3 non-fault claims).

It's recorded because it you have 2/3/4 non-fault's they'll wonder why you keep getting in accidents.... especially if you claim for injury on each one. (keeping an eye for 'arranged' claims)

I'd beg to differ; the upper middle classes are well connected and au fait with the legal system....if they get a personal injury you can bet then have the means and nouse to claim for it.

Also if you crash into someone elses car around that area, it's probably gonna be a full fat Rangy or a Bentley so gonna cost your insurer a packet!

Higher income, higher payout (to a degree)

If they have to have a month off work due to their injuries the claim cost will be much higher.

The average theft claim will be higher aswell, with more expensive cars (aswell as increased repair costs)

Mate - i don't enjoy paying over £1000 per year in insurance myself, but it's something we have to do.

What's next? Refuse to pay your road tax as you don't use the car much, or drive off without paying for petrol because you think the government take too much of a cut?

If you don't want to pay insurance don't drive, or if you don't want to pay extra for mods then don't mod it.

this thread seems all back-to-front to me, why is everyone having a go at insurance companies? they've got to make a profit and cover their costs, just like any other business.

we should be having a go at the pikeys that make unnecessary and false claims for whiplash, garages who overcharge for insurance repairs and so on!

That sounds very fishy. I bet either they don't declare mods or are on their Parents' policies or something.

Ive insured of few performance cars in the last few years , Supra TT 450-500 bhp was the most too insure at around £1700 i think for the first year , id been driving about 5 yrs with no points and 5 years ncb . My partner was 22 and past her test no longer than a month and we got a quote for fun for her too insure it , it came out around £1600 ! How is that ????

If my insurers continued to put my policy up year after year id move and get a better deal but hopefully Moley_wrx will look after me

( Supra was a straight line monster )
