Call the dealer first thing Monday and mention this to them. Let us know how you get on. If they are not immediately forthcoming, tell them you are seeking legal advice as you believe the car you were sold was not accurately and honestly described.

I'd take it back or demand a reduction in the price... whatever the spec differences between the UK car and The Euro car (not a lot) the TRADE IN when you want to part ex it will be HUGELY different... They should have told you it isn't a Subaru UK imported car..end of.

When it part Ex'd my 2008 Euro in, a lot of Subaru dealers loved the car but were not allowed to buy it...because it wasn't officially a UK car. The knock on effect was stupidly low offers from non Subaru dealers.

Mine is a Euro Premium spec STi (from Malta) and had a lot more goodies on it than a std UK model STi. Basically the same spec as a 330S, so for the £25K I paid new in 2008 I was well chuffed. Does yours have extras ?
They still have the same UK warranty, body protection etc (well mine did).

What is this Malta thing all about? I bought a new wrx hawkeye from motorpoint in 2006. This had come from malta. Traded it in for the Hatch and last year did a google search on it. It was back in Malta. This year its back in the uk (seen in newcastle area). It was decatted/induction kit/fuel pump etc remapped by bob rawle. Amazing machine.

Count yourself lucky. First I found my car was imported from Malta, then I bought a walbro pump to find that it had already had one fitted. Took it for a remap and found that it has already been mapped and had a ECUTEK license on it. Then I pull the engine and find a exedy cluch on it.
The mint, unmolested STi I paid extra for had been well and truly tinkered with!!

True, but I would have though the dealer would have know about some of it, esp. when he told me "yeah I know the guy who owned it, he only drove it 5 miles a day back and forth to work."

I should tatoo MUG on my forehead I shouldn't complain though, I'm more than happy with the car and have plenty in the pipeline for it.

As you have mentioned the above, the original advert stated the car had an upgraded prodrive exhaust. Having trawlled through the paperwork that the dealer gave me it is clearly a HKS. He isn't bestowing me with confidence as a main Subaru Dealer if he doesn't know what a prodrive exhaust is particularly as my understanding is they are clearly stamped and he obviously didn't look at the paperwork.

This dealer sounds like a right a55hole, take it they wont mind shutting down soon with this attitude. On a slightly seperate note - if its been driven in malta Id get the tracking and suspension looked at asap. The roads there are awful.

99% of the Malta imports are brand new cars assigned for Malta but in fact stay on the boat till the UK.
They're not 2nd hand cars imported from Malta (as per many JDM's).

All of Iain Litchfields, David Hendry's, Motorpoint etc cars are brand new cars with delivery miles only. Minus a Sigma alarm (but they still have an alarm) and with no tracker.. but usually a higher spec than the UK car due to IM screwing the British for a bigger profit!
