Guys, this is going round in circles.
It doesn't matter where the Lambda/02/AFR sensor is located. Whether it is in the collector/exhaust manifold/headers on the driver's side close to the front wheel or at the top in the downpipe just after the turbo.
Phase 1 and 2 cars are in the collector MY93-96. Phase 3-6 cars are in the downpipe just after the turbo.
Any car fitted with a CAT should have a CAT on Fire sensor.
Getting your car sorted out for the MOT is no big deal and if you are in striking distance of Darlington we can do it for you otherwise find someone that knows about Subarus that can sort it for you for not a lot of money.

harvey, I think those that have posted help know it doesn't matter where it's located... Just that the posters asking the questions might run into practical problems with making the 02 sensor on a MY93-96 fit a later d/p, etc. (obviously not a problem to overcome) . I think people are just trying to supply the correct "OEM spec" info, if you will.
But, of course, you're totally right in what you say, regardless.

Indeed, hence why its concerning 6 garages/mechanics have said its the wrong CAT etc etc,the lead on the lamdba differes in length as to where its located, manifold or downpipe, hence the lamdba not reaching the cars loom to be plugged in and they say its the wrong CAT,but its the wrong lamdba thats causing issues
but hey ho,all good fun LOL

I have just about had it with the damned thing now!

GUESS WHAT.... dosnt fit ........., called cats2u and they are sure they have sent the right one and they have never had any returned before!
problem with the cat-the cat hits the bulkhead and wont let the top sit flush with the turbo!
PICS!!!
4ndy's and cat2u.
I am located in bristol/avonmouth
Also, the cat2u cat didnt have the "cat on fire" hole in it!

when you say it hits the bulkhead,im assuming you mean the lower part, where the cat on fire sensor would be ?
need pics really of it fitted,or,not fitted but in place under the bonnet etc,as they look alike, similair so cant see an initial problem with it.
so,if it did fit, whats the difference between the cat2u cat and the 2nd hand cat you had ??

Mechanic partially put two bolts in at the bottom pert of the connection that contacts the turbo, but the cat hits the bulk head when you try to sit ity flush so does not fit!
2nd hand cat fits, but ther is no were to put the lambda in to the pipe!
