Not that work ever stresses me up but playing on a games console takes my mind off things along with a can or two

I suffered with stress and all that bad stuff a few years back. Tried alcohol but it only made things worse (although I didn't see that at the time).

If you have spare time, as I did at the time, go for a walk. A long walk. We have some parks around here with lakes. I'd sit on a bench and watch the wildlife go about their business for an hour or two - It really was very calming. If I had a couple of quid spare I would then go to a local driving range and knock a couple of baskets of *****. The first 50 ***** would all be aimed at 230+ Yards, the next 50 chipped to the 50 yard spot then the rest were free for all

After that - a good hard wnak always helps!

You'll look back on this period, you'll learn from it and one day soon it will be you lending a helping hand. When you're in crisis and everything seems too much, just remember, you WILL get through to the other side. Best of luck tomorrow, it sounds like a professional listener is exactly what you need right now and well done for recognising it. Take care,

Best of luck- i know people take the pi55 because its mental but when its bad its just as bad as cancer ( at least you get sympathy with that). Unless anyone has been there ( which i have and am now) they cant possibly understand.
At the moment, i have gone from somebody who normally looks after themselves- diet, exercise and very fit) to someone whos drinking 9-10 drinks aday to try and relieve severe anxiety about a family problem and taking time off work to carry on with this. I know its so destructive and iam trying hard now to break the cycle so, i for one will never take depression/anxiety lightly- its a *******.

I was just trying to summarise how you can learn to manage it and its not impossible.

De-caf coffee, no drink or drugs, exercise, and sort out finances as best you can, sell excess cars or toys, give away clutter you don't need and clean the house.

I'm having a bad time of things, my way of coping is the natural way, reducing alcohol as it's a depressant, and induce endorphins via regular excercise, yoga is helping too, never felt better

The most valuable piece of advice I have ever been given.

"You have been given the gift of 'now.' In a few seconds, 'now' will be gone forever. You can waste 'now' by thinking about the past or the future, or you can use it. Soon, you will have another gift of a new 'now,' but it will be a different one, and if you waste this one, you might waste the next one thinking about this one"

Initially I thought it was bollox, as I was in a good place and probably didn't waste too much time dwelling on what could have been or what might be, but in the intervening years, there have been several times where the past or future have taken over my thoughts entirely. Remembering the gift of 'now' has so far sorted it every time

Ok the basic rule of stress it that you need a little in your life but not a lot. Worry about things you can do something about and not about the things out of your control.

I have been through a similar time so I do understand how awful it can be. I was told by a very capable advisor that the best person to win over it was myself. I was told that every time I fought against it I would get stronger. He was right.

I hope you can find someone to help you as well that that chap did with me.

How is getting caught bashing one out at the driving range or in the park going to help his situation
