Sorry Les, ddin't think you'd get so upset over being accused of reading the Daily Mail - although I would too.

The point I make is that your sentance indicated a lack of understanding and is the sort of comment made by the ill-informed on the subject, usually in a national news paper to create mass hysteria (present company accepted '83 )

Alcohol alters the state of mind. Personally, I dislike alcohol greatly.

And apparently we are all over 30 and too old to understand. I'm 35 now, drugs weren't around in my day. These days if I went out of the house I'd see people jacking up in every garden. Way to scary, good job I can't go out eh, thank-you weak bladder.

These young'uns get up to all this stuff that I wouldn't even know about, apart from seeing it (and not believing my eyes) on the news and tv shows like shameless.

"An occasional puff" as you say would not harm of course but it does not stay like that does it? Some people spend the whole day stoking up the "high" that they are on , and it is a matter of common sense that is most likely to lead to class A drugs. Yopu cannot deny that.

How badly did that girl need her drugs do you think, and why?

I really dont need to read the Daily Mail to be able to form my own opinions, and neither would I. Are you a reader to be able to try to accuse me of that.

I am glad to say that I have never been tempted into using mind altering drugs, I like a drink and have so far been able to control my intake of alcohol, dont see that changing either.

You carry on as you please of course but please be more careful about your accusations in fiuture.

Erm, you sure about that? that'd make you 18 in 1993.

Around the same time this was going on.....

5000 B.C. The Sumerians use opium, suggested by the fact that they have an ideogram for it which has been translated as HUL, meaning "joy" or "rejoicing."

1800 Napoleon's army, returning from Egypt, introduces cannibis (hashish, marijuana) into France.
Avante-garde artists and writers in Paris develop their own cannabis ritual, leading, in 1844, to the establishment of *Le Club de Haschischins.

Exactly how old are you???

Yes you are right, I wrote it badly. Alcohol is mind altering as well, but its a matter of degree.

I think it is easier to resist the worst dangers of alcohol as apposed to getting instantly hooked on crack. I agree of course that alcohol is every bit as injurious if you do let it get out of control.

May be a suspended sentence might have been more appropriate?

Telling mum that whilst her intentions were understood she went about it the wrong way? Judge could have added something about the girl getting the right treatment - if that exists.

Footnote
30 years ago (I was in USA) there were plenty of drugs around but the choice was limited. Mostly cannabis, LSD and Heroin. There was some mildish stuff called Keef which I think was cannabis resin based but I was never really sure.
