Guys - just like to chip in. It was a well fought battle and Matt and Chris will tell you how close it came to - less than a hundred votes in it. We didn't sleep much in the last 3 days!
Everyone has their own tastes thats for sure and its a better place for it.
I would say though, that we have found some excellent feature cars from this competition and are in the process of speaking to people who didnt win because their cars stood out for obvious reasons.
I'm going to hear the groans now... we have started all over again and Idol 2011 is back with over 2k in prizes this time plus the cover feature. Entries beign taken now for round 1 which will appear in the Mar-Apr issue - so can I suggest.... if there are some S*** hot imprezas out there to send them in

Cheers

Well done to the winner
But I dont think it should be about how much cash you can chuck at a car or its power output but about how well the car is looked after.
People can still be on a budget for a car like a scoob or want to retain its standard features (for example the white Prodrive P1 prototype which you wouldnt want to make into a 500bhp monster tbh as it would ruin what it stood for), and people should understand that an enthusiast may not have all the cash in the world or want silly bhp, just a great car, so im not having a go at the winner but more about the fact its the way people look at the cars.
Just my 2p's worth

These things are just like x-factor,the better product doesnt always win,the product that has the bigger circle of contacts does, in this case, reading what the winner did to win says it all.
congrats all the same
congrats all the same

IMO that WR1 is 'bought not built!'. @ the end of the day anyone can win show n shines etc if they hand over a wad of cash/plastic to a garage and ask them to build the best they can, but wheres the enjoyment in that!
The P1 and powers bugeye got my votes. Some very nice cars to pick from.
Always the same no matter what.

Competitions like this annoy me.
Entrants (that usually win) virtually beg and plead people (who dont even like cars) into voting for them!
not very fair imho

The WR1 was a lovely car, but I think there should be a judging panel, rather than a public voting system!.
Get some top Subaru bods, ie RCM etc to judge the entrants:thumb, and why not have sub groups ie best classic, best bug, best blob and best hawk, and let them all have a group battle for the overall title
The winner should of been a Classic IMHO!! lol

No matter how they do it, not everyone will be happy, same at car shows and the NBO. The amount of classes you'd have is massive!! most of the time a garage/tuner built car will will imo.

Oh yes
Judging gets one friend and a hundred enemies !,
This year at the NBO 9 we are doubling the size of the arena it's so popular
It gives everyone a chance to drive into the arena and last year we raised over £400 from the arena event alone towards our charity
We are in the process of getting even more judges to help us out but every year we evaluate carefully and expand on it for the next year
9 years ago Martin and me wandered around and found three cars in the field and a club stand was one banner and 3/4cars
We discussed a crowd vote but it will never happen
Imagine 55 evos voted and won the car of the day / club stand !!
Although there is something else coming this year that might entertain you all
