What would you do if you hit a dog?

I expect nothing more of Richard due to him being a moderator by the way.
I do not take my moral guidance from the bulletin boards or their moderators, nor do I hold them in any higher esteem than anyone else.
Just to clear that up.

Its strange to see peoples prioritys. I actually don't really like animals at all, especially dogs. I only really like my two cats, so I can't be accused of being an animal lover, but I would definetly say their lives are worth just as much as any human life, even more than alot of peoples (give me a dog over a rapist/murderer etc any day)

Reidy - while agreeing with the broad thrust of your argument (animals have every right to be treated in a 'humane' way) I don't think your resorting to personal attacks on people who have views differing to yours is doing you any favours - rather is shows that you are somewhat limited in your ability to engage in debate.
What next - do Richard etc smell of poo and have fleas? Or will you get your dad round?

lol - what is scoobynet coming too
I can't believe people are getting upset over a simple debat. If someone gets upset over this good knows what they would be like person-to-person, IMO a emotional ****
If you knock a pet down I believe its your duty as a tentative murderer too at least inform the family of the said pet. . Imagine your pet dissappearing one day, wouldn'y you want ot know whats happened to it!!.
If the road was to dangerous to stop then you should at least inform the police otherwise leaving an injured pet to die or leaving a dead pet by the road is sicking.
No doubt I'll be abused over this, but hey I'm adult enough to take critisum and not go all emotional over a post on SN.

Thanks for your helpful advice Jon.
"What next - do Richard etc smell of poo and have fleas? Or will you get your dad round?"
I almost took you seriously until you did this - you wonder why I personally attack people on here. I stand by my posts - I think that sometimes people need things pointing out to them on here as they get carried away and can get offensive.

Errr. Richard Askew for one has made it quite clear he would do his very best to find and inform the owner, if only to ensure he knew who to send the bill to.
Hes got every right to decide how much risk he is prepared to put himself in to investigate/help an injured animal/spoiler.
My family had dogs when I was a kid and I love them dearly. We had a lab that on several occasions escaped. I used to sit at the end of the drive scared witless that instead of the dog coming padding up the drive it would be somebody to tell my family he'd got knocked down.
Dogs can and do get out. Responsible owners insure them against other peoples damage based on the fact this is the real world not some airy fairy never never land where nothing unplanned happens.
Despite my love of dogs in general and dislike fo most kids, given the choice between saving my own pet and someone elses toddler - I'd go for the kid all the time. I happen to place the value of their life above an animal - however much of a loved pet it is.
Dog vs Politician or Republicans - well that would be much easier....

still think there is blatent lack of appreciation for ones rigth to their own opinion.
More importantly, is this specific to when a scooby hits a dog, or could it be any car hitting a dog, in which case shouldn't it be in non scooby related?

Reidy, I may agree with your point of view but your reluctance to accept other peoples views make you look thick, not to put too fine a point on it! Is your name Ima? You appear to generalize people and personally slag them! How old are you 12? 13?

that's it in a nutshell adam - eveyones got their own opinions and is entitled to them - who was it who said 'I might disagree with what you say, but I shall defend to my death your right to say it.' Shaw or someone - can't remember.
Anyway I hit a dog once and she dropped her chips.....boom boom!
Only kidding folks (before I get accused of being sexist/uglyist) ...it's friday

Apparently, you have to stop if you knock down a child as well. Seems a shame - if a few more of them got mown down, maybe their parents would teach them how to cross a road in the first place.
Now, if I ran over a cat, I'd certainly stop - one less tin of Pedigree Chum to open that night...

I only ran over the bunny rabbit because the Elise was so quiet you couldn't hear it coming.
After that I did the environmentally friendly thing and fitted a Janspeed sports exhaust and removed the catalytic converter.
Rabbits could hear me for miles around after that.

some people on here shouldn't be moderators. They're obviously not mature enough.
Personally I rate animal life on a par with human, or above.
Animals deserve to live more than many humans. How many people have been done over by ******* and wished they were dead?

Juan - because I voice my opinion in a structured and well voiced manner i shouldn't be a moderator? Is this what you are inferring? If so you're having a laugh sunshine...

Richard, i agree with you on your points, some people dont read everything thats put down and only the first line or 2, they need to open the freezer door and shove their heads in there so they can CHILL
Great debate except for the muppets (sorry for any offence to the muppet contgent on this BBS )

I'd stop, organise fixing the animal, report it to the police, idenfity the owner and hope they offered to pay for the damage. It seems there is a happy medium here, vehicle owners happy enough to do the moral thing and animal owners happy enough to recognise that regardless of compassionate grounds there can still be fault involved.
I've got a cat myself and love it to bits but wouldn't be daft enough to suggest that animals would never be capable of doing silly things like causing accidents.

...not from your comments..
however..
..eh??
..really?..methinks not..
and
..in a 30/40/50 limit?? ..methinks not..you never know what might run out infront of you..
I'm off home now...I will endeavour to avoid all of Gods little creatures..
I agree Richard is a total **** and would gladly knock him over and then pi$$ on him.....
however..
Your lack of years is showing through mate
You run over my cat and display that attitude you would pay
and
Also, chances are you'll be speeding with that hot head of yours.

all depends what type of dog it is???? and how much damage caused. if it was a dog that you hate and the damage was low then???????? should you sue??????
just thought i would try and lighten up the thread,
everyone has their own opinion and right to it......
so who's up for a demonstration outside richards house??
