Wow .....You got the wrong car, The legacy belongs to stevie turbo's mate. Mine's a 95 WRX Ra and wasn't at Elvington.
The AP22 is a 'G' force recording meter which can be downloaded onto a PC and gives a power curve. I've found it to be very accurate on a number of cars. Biggest error to date is 2% compared to rolling road data.

IC, I thought you had a Legacy as well as your Type RA.
I know what you mean now. I know of that measuring device, If Im right, it measures bhp at wheels, as opposed to flywheel.
We have a similar device for measuring 0 - 60, quarter mile etc etc. Was .1 out when tested at Santa Pod.
I was impressed with his times at the 500m day. I was unfortunately not able to make it, as we had to get ready for USC the following week, but heard it was a very good day, with some impressive times, and some very impressive motors.

Is teh AP22 thing any good, I had thought about buying it, but I already have teh G-tech thingy, which is OK, but a bit fiddly to use.
The HP estimations with the G-Tech also seem to have a mind of their own. It only does 0-60, 1/4 time and speed, and braking.
The AP22 can do any distance you decide etc??

Were you red lighted for the runs where you've gone under 0.4 sec reaction time? When I used to race at Eastern Creek raceway back in OZ, under 0.4 was a red light.

Try this,
Speed in mph, squared, divided by ET in seconds, times car weight in pounds, divided by 1000, divided by 9.1.
High mph with a poor ET = a lot of power.
Good ET but low mph = good traction.
The ET has a smaller effect on the hp figure then the speed.

I couldn't use it in 1st and 2nd as there was enough power to break traction already but hit the 150 button in 3rd and it pulled like 2nd gear, hit the 250 in 4th and IT pulled like 2nd gear, bearing in mind 2nd gear was good for 90 mph and it got there in under 5 seconds............sort of F & F like but without the complicated plot

Andy- Great times in your car, I am currently trying to get my car near those times. The advice I would like if you can give it is with suspension set-up in your car? How soft are the springs and shocks your running?? And do you drop your tyre pressure when you are going down the 1/4 mile?
My car has managed 13 secs flat for the 1/4 but has yet to achieve anything close to a 1.7 60 ft time. WHat are you lauching the car at revs wise?? And do you flat change between gears??
ANy advice would be greatly appreciated....

What works for my car will not neccessarily work on other types.
I have an Ra which has the short gearing and is lightweight.
The other 'big' difference in launch requirement is dictated by the turbo, intercooler (lag) and the type of boost control you have.
I have a TD05 on a TMIC controlled by a 'Dawes' type valve, with this set up I hold between 4 > 4.5k revs, let the clutch up fairly quick whilst progressivly pressing the throttle. I tried this on a big VF turbo'd car and it just bogged down Tried more revs and it just spun the clutch so it can be tricky !!!
For what it's worth, I run 28 psi in the tyres, keep the car low on the suspension to reduce weight transfer off the front and I lift to approx 1/4 throttle to shift gear to minimise lag.

It was on std shox with lowered (heated with cutting torch )standard springs for the runs on the time slips.
I've since fitted Leda adjustable platform with 325 F 225 R springs and my 60' times have increased. I think this is mainly due to the clutch limitations though as I don't have enough bite left to break traction

Andy, I'm not about to try this, but I'm curious, did you heat those springs while they were on the car? I assume so, and then you would have to allow the car to settle, for the second or two as the heated part of the metal spring cools back off.
I use a cutting torch daily at my job, so I'm trying to analyze how you did this. It must have been a very delicate matter, as you need to match up the drop on the right and left side of the car. Plus I'd imagine that you take care to only heat the spring enough to barely make it start to sag, lest you "overdrop" the car.
Or did you use jackstands or something of the like to drop the car an even amount all around? This makes more sense, as you could position the stands 1.5 inches below the stock height, and also eliminate the risk of "over-dropping" the car.
Again, I'm not about to try this myself, but I'd be curious to know the method involved. Seems like a fun project on a cheapo beater car, but not the Scooby!

softer springs are the ticket for rear drive draggers.
gives the car an opertunity to wind up the rear springs while launching, rather than put all the energy into the tyres in one go.

Annointed - bodge of the week Yes I done it on the car with the weight on the springs.
I applied the heat at the point where the bottom coil 'just' starts to lift out of the springpan, as the spring softens, a further 1/2 coil rests down on the springpan, do this on all 4 corners, stand back and admire ..........not low enough ? Apply heat again, this time 1/2 turn further round 'just' as the 'newly sunk' section leaves the bottom coil, a further 1/2 coil drops into the springpan.
This bodge was good for - 30 mm and a worthwhile (approx 25%)increase in spring rate due to there being less coils in operation
Downsides Care needed to ensure you heat in exactly the same place on each coil. Easy to torch your car !! Easy to trap your hand and cutting torch between the arch and tyre as it settles down on you
Upsides The standard car pulled 1.03G on my local mini roundabout er I mean off road test track
With bodged springs it pulled 1.12G
Full coil over adjustable set up it pulled 1.14G
So not a bad gain for free

When I said it was quicker to use 4 gears I meant if the gearing was appropriate ie Std WRX. My Ra would need to rev to about 9k to do it in 4th
The timing gear was pukka yankie drag timing beams and software.
I just find it hard to believe I'm producing 300 bhp never mind 340 bhp from 380cc injectors, std fuel pump, turbo & ecu, even 'if'? that 5th injector works

I don't know what size the RA 5th injector is, but I'm sure that, running pretty lean, and the water/methanol mix, is what's allowed it, even though you're max'ing out the injectors.
Using the basic formula of 5cc's of fuel per 1bhp,
380 x 4 div' 5 = 304bhp @ 100% idc
You have an extra injector, and you're running leaner, + you're running methanol. Oh, and a SH*T load of boost
Even if the 5th injector was 200cc's, this would equate to 430cc injectors, =ing 344bhp @ 100%idc. So it does make sense.
What I want to know though, is knowing how tight you Scottish guys are, are you sure it was a measured 1/4 mile, and not shortened, so you could save on fuel costs
Saw your post on i-club, and was surprised at how quiet they've gone. If one of them had done an 11.87, the bbs would be manic !!
