no problem

panel filter - cosworth one works well

yes then downpipe, although as standard downpipes goes the hawk sti one is not too bad.

Done a number of standard sti and wrx and tend to gain lots on the throttle response and torque just not as big power gains and you have to be careful to preserve the cats and not to create too much back pressure. Usually make at least ppp figures on standard car without the ppp mods fitted just a remap.

I was thinking along the lines of panel filter(already got) and then fuel pump and a Miltek cat back, then get the Ecutek remap. Don't really want to change cats at this point.

Or am i heading in the wrong direction

(car is MY55 STI UK)

works well.. you will gain more changing the downpipe cat but not essential.

Or you could de-cat far cheaper...

It's not like you are near a VOSA test centre is it ?

The Hawkeye PPP only removes the 2nd small cat and still passes an MOT, I would really recommend this as its such an easy part to change your self and only costs about £85.00, this way the car is still legal, wont be to loud and will get a little bit more benefit from the new map.
Simon mapped my Spec D a couple of years ago useing a very safe map and got nearly 340bhp with 360 torque (decat and K&N fillter), might not have been massive power figure but the car went like a rocket and is very responsive, I have done nearly 60000 miles now and still going strong! so take what you want from that!!
There have been a lot 2.5 litre head gaskets go, I wonder if they dont like to much boost

So you changed the second cat for a straight through pipe? Did you keep the standard mid pipe and back box?

My back box is getting a bit crusty so i really need that changing before it falls off.

I actually went full decat, but if I was to do it all again I would only change the small cat and leave the down pipe one in (as Prodrive do) The mid pipe is only a resonated section so no power gains there only noise, better off getting a good back box (I went for a Prodrive BB).
Doing it this way it keeps the noise down a little and the right side of the law ie mot, and you will still see more power figures than a PPP car, Most PPP cars dont make the claimed 320 bhp more like 300-310, but as long as the rollers are correct I recon a healthy 330-340 bhp and very good torque would be achieved.
If you work out the cost its very good;;;;
Cat bypass £85.00
Panel filter £35-40
Back box £100 second hand.
Remap £550.
Total...............................£770 ish
Compared to PPP.............£1700.

Or even a open sorced mapp at £250 ish with mods inc. £520.00

yes thats £520 for 50bhp not bad

There's a nice condition prodrive back box and cat bypass in the for sale section at the mo for £150, you never know a bid of £120 is not out of the question!

Nearly all good named back boxes are made from stainless steel so will probably out last most of the other parts of the car
I have a prodrive back box and the quality is very high I also have a H&S decat system which is in the same frame
Also I think some of the manufacturers have life time warranty's

I think you will find it had a PPP on his car, so only one cat!

Green filter - not sure about PPP? Sold to me as standard Spec D - didn't get a certificate - how could I tell?

rear silencer says prodrive on it, intercooler pipe is blue says prodrive.

Did you have to travel far?
Was the remap done, on the road or a rolling road?
Looking to for a remap soon on my SpecD will have a 3" Cobra system and sports cat fitted so hoping for a good result.

Fantastic figures mate. It really does make a massive difference to the way the car drives. I really must rebook my tweak on my map with Simon and getting on the rolling road.

I mapped it at www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk but can road map it too.. I am based in Kent but travel about combination of rolling road and road tend to give best results imho

Unless fitting yourself why not go to Surrey Rolling Road, give the car to Jimmy of JS Engineering and get him to fit the system for you, watch Simon map other cars until yours is ready for mapping and bobs your unlce fannys your aunt. Once done and you can drive off (after paying of course) with a massive grin on your face with new power etc.

Worth a day off work mate just to annoy Charlie who runs www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk and get in Simons way (I do ) .

Can't knock the RCM Sports CAT mate. I have one on my car and have done for 4 years and gets plenty of abuse from the anti lag etc and still works even though rated to 350bhp!! Ask Simon, he loves my car.

Still passed MOT each year too.

So just to clarify, on a standard hawk STI (OEM exhaust etc) with just a change of panel filter and a remap (£600) it is possible to get an additional 80hp? Seems a bit too good to be true that, and also very tempting!
